One design that is very popular are the raised flower beds. This is where you have flower beds that are higher on mound of dirt then your grass is. You can do these mounds in waves , half circle, circles or any shape you can come up with. First you will need to get extra dirt and soil so that you can create your mounds and prepare them for planting. You might also want to install a small sprinkler system so that your flowers wont be with out water. Hand tools would be the best tools to use for this type of design because you do not want to destroy the shape of your raise flower bed by using big tools. You can even lay down some mulch so that your flower bed will look nice, clean of weeds, and well kept.

If you have little space available to plant any type of plants then potting with be the best design method for you. With this method you will use a series of pots to create your garden. You will have fun choosing from several different styles of pots. This design would benefit form using handle tools as well, because you will be gardening in a small space. First you should arrange all of your pots in the areas that you will want them to go, this way once they have soil in them they you wont have to move them very far. A fun way to make the front of your house look very appealing to visitors is to have a walk way garden. This would be good if you have a long walkway or a long drive way. The purpose of this design is to line the outside of the walk way with your garden or to line the outside of your drive way with your garden. This design is easy to create.
