Having a garden at your home can be relaxing and comforting to look at it. Having a personal touch to your garden is what you can add to make your garden unique. Find items that represent who you are and what you like. Use some of the following ideas to help you or to add to your garden.
Choose a waterfall or water fountain. There are many different styles you can make a waterfall out of. You can use rock, plants or concrete to make a waterfall. If you do decide to go with a waterfall, put it in a place that you can get to easily to clean and take care of. Make sure if you have children or pets, that they are safe from the waterfall. The sound of a waterfall can be calming to ones soul. If you have shade and a nice sitting area, anyone can relax and enjoy themselves. Having a simple water fountain is a great idea to add to a patio or to a yard that has children or pets. It will keep them safe from drowning, but will give them that chance to still play in water.

Add a spot in your garden to grow just wild flowers and plants. Adding wild flowers will give your garden some variety and color. Planting wild flowers in your garden will also be a cheaper way to grow your garden. Most wild flowers are perennials' and come back every year and more in quantity than the year before. Color is a great way to add to your garden and a great way to make it unique. You can plant and grow different types of flowers and plants that bloom at different times throughout the year. This will give you a wide variety of colors, shapes and varieties. It will keep you garden different and interesting to people.
If you don't have time to maintain your garden and plant flowers, try planting some fake flowers. It sounds a little cheap, but fake flowers last a long time and will keep the insects away from your home. You can place them in pots or directly in your flower bed. The only keep up you will have it pulling weeds and watering your lawn. If you do decide to go this way, you will have to replace after the wet seasons or pull them out of the ground before the wet season.
Adding lighting to your garden is an inviting way to have friends and family come over to enjoy your garden and patio area. If you live in an area that has mosquitoes, use lighting that doesn't attract mosquitoes or use some candles that retract them. Be kind and also offer your guests bug repellent also. No one wants a mosquito bite.
Add lanterns to a patio overhang to add the effect you are sitting inside with light lighting or add lights along your pathways to interest your guests in walking around your garden. There are also lights that you can choose to hang from your trees or put in your flower beds that will help you garden look unique.
If you have children, use smaller toys or more natural looking toys. For example, if you want to add a swing set to the yard for your children, select a wood swing set instead of an aluminum one. This will help keep your yard and flowers have the outdoor atmosphere it must have. Have children put their toys away and out of eye sight. This will not only help with theft, but will give you garden that completed and cleaned up look.
