Using a plan to clean the house

If you are like most Americans, the household chores have probably overwhelmed you at least once and you may find it hard to get back on track with a good cleaning schedule. In order to keep your home clean and free from clutter, you need to set up a schedule and have a plan to clean your home.

Determine what type of cleaning you need to do and when you need to do it. Are you planning to have some guests at your home? If so, it's time to deep clean your home. Yes this means putting on the rubber gloves and getting down on your hands and needs to remove the mold growing by the bathtub! Deep cleaning will take a long time to do so you need to devote at least a full day to it. When you deep clean, look for all the areas that have not been touched in your home for a long time. Consider washing the walls, scrubbing the carpets, waxing the floors, and vacuuming up the cobwebs on the ceiling. A good deep cleaning session will leave the entire home dust-free and looking spic and span.

If you just need to do some basic cleaning, set aside time to do so. You don't always need to put off all the cleaning until Saturday, consider doing it daily. Start by dusting on Monday, mopping on Tuesday, vacuuming on Wednesday, etc. Another great way to make sure you stay on top of your cleaning is to pick one to two rooms to work on each day. This way you won't be spending 5-6 hours at a time cleaning the whole house, but you will successful clean it from top to bottom.

Having a plan to clean the home will only work if you stick to it. If you fall behind on your cleaning schedule, make it up in the morning on the next day and then do the rest of your scheduled cleaning at night.

Here are some simple tips that will help you make cleaning the home easier:

    >Place all of your cleaning supplies in the same area. Consider purchasing a little tote that you can carry around with you from room to room to clean everything up. Leave some of the cleaning supplies you commonly use in the bathroom. This way you won't need to walk all the back to the supply cabinet to find what you need.

  • Create a system of how you want to clean. Simple things like room to room or top floor and bottom floor will help you stay focused with your cleaning goals.
  • Make a list for each room of the things that need to be cleaned. This way you won't need to worry about finishing and then realizing that you forgot to dust.
  • Have everyone in the home pitch in. Each person should have their own assignments when it comes to cleaning the home. Children should always be in charge of keeping their rooms clean and they should also have another chore like taking out garbage or mopping the kitchen floor.
  • Time yourself. A great way to stay focused on cleaning your home is to have a time limit for each room. Once 10 minutes is up, write down what you were able to finish and what is still left to be done. Your challenge will be to someday beat that clock and move onto the next room before it beeps.

The best way to keep a clean and organized home is to focus and just do it. Don't put it off till the end of the week, do it at the beginning of the week so you can stay on top of it.
