A Business Vacuum

The law of the vacuum is a simple concept. The universe abhors a vacuum and will always fill it. When you draw out a cup of water from a lake, water rushes in to fill the void. When you cut a piece of sod from your lawn, weeds grow almost overnight to fill the void. When you clean off your desk, within a week it is filled with papers, knick-knacks, leftover snacks, trash, and dust. The universe abhors empty space. It is always filled with something even if it is air. The key to getting the universe to work in your favor is knowing exactly what you want the universe to fill the vacuum with.

You can use this law to help you become more successful in your business and in your personal life. We are going to discuss how to use the law of the vacuum as it pertains to your business.

Step #1: The list of negative results.

Every business has things they want to get rid of. These are the negative results you are seeing month after month. Make a list for your business. For example, things you don't want could include low sales, non-productive paid hours, disorganization, or unhappy employees. These are the negative results you will use the law of the vacuum to replace with positive results.

Step #2: Decide what you'll replace things with.

Once you know the negative results you want to replace you need to decide what you want to replace them with. You need to be very specific when figuring this out. Rather than just say you want to replace low sales with high sales, give it a specific dollar amount. For example, you could say you want to replace low sales with sales of $100,000 per month for your small business. Go through each item on your list and decide what you want to replace the negative result with. The more specific you are, the better. The universe will fill your void once you create the vacuum, but you don't want it to fill the void with what you already had. Disorganization will fill back in with disorganization unless you know specifically what you want to replace it with.

Step #3: Create the vacuum.

This is the hardest step on your part because you have to commit whatever your negative result is to the void and trust that the universe will fill it back in with what you specifically want. Creating the vacuum is going to take some creativity on your part. For example, if you want to increase sales, one way to do so is to hire the employees you would need to be able to fill the sales if they were there. A friend of mine did just that. He owned a furniture shop and wanted to double his monthly sales. In order to create a vacuum he doubled the number of employees he had to make furniture. He didn't do anything different in his advertising, but the month he doubled the number of employees working for him producing furniture he also doubled his sales. The universe filled the void of workers who needed furniture to build by bringing more furniture sales to the company. Creating a vacuum is a powerful tool for improving your business.
