Becoming satisfied with your life

There comes a time in all of our lives when we feel satisfied and accomplished and there are times when we get discouraged and frustrated. Becoming satisfied with your life can be done with a positive attitude and some personal goals.

Quite often stress and other distractions get in the way and cause us to lose sight of the things that are truly important in our lives. Stop looking at the way other people are living their lives and find out how you wan to live your life. Do you want to be a person that is constantly looking back and thinking "what if?" Or do you want to be the person that lives everyday like it is your last and appreciates every moment of it?

To become satisfied with your life, you need to learn what makes you happy. Do you have a family? Does your family make you happy? Do you have a career? Do you feel accomplished with your career? What are some of the things you would like to accomplish with your life? Make a list of everything you want to do and what you want people to remember you by when you leave this earth. Then set some goals on how you can start incorporating this into your life.

Becoming satisfied with your life means taking care of yourself. This can be hard for parents and others that have the mentality of sacrifice. While it is good to sacrifice, you still need to take care of yourself and your needs. Were there things you used to do that you have given up? If so, make some room in your schedule for them once again.

You might even find that the people around you also want to participate in some of these things and it can become a great family activity.

Living a satisfied life means you need to plan to have this life. We can all have high hopes and dreams but if we don't plan to live the life we want, it will never happen. Use small goals to help you accomplish bigger things. Start with things like, "I want to buy a home in 5 years, a motor home in 10, and a boat in 15." Then you need to set little goals on how you plan to achieve each goal. The small goals can be things like "I will put away $500 a month towards savings" or "I will take 10% of my income to put towards a down payment on the home, etc.

Make a list of all your priorities and determine what is the most important to you. If your job ranks above your family, you may need to re-think your priorities. While careers are important, they won't be around forever and they won't be there to support and uplift you when you need it.

A great way to become satisfied with your life is to stop making excuses for yourself. If your friends go to yoga each week but you refuse to go because you think you are too busy, make time for it! Stop using excuses as a way to get out of the rewarding life experiences out there. Create a daily schedule so you know where you can become a little more flexible. Always make time to spend with your family each day and to strengthen your relationships with them but also make a little time for yourself. When you make a daily schedule, you can quickly identify the things that waste your time and eliminate them from your life. This can help you find out some of the things that are truly rewarding with life and make you satisfied with your own life.
