Your first step is to find what motivates you. What can you do to find your creative side? Start by focusing on what you want to do. For example, you want to re-decorate your home. How do you get motivated to do it and how do you find your creativity within yourself. Start motivating yourself by picking out some colors. A color in a home is a great way to show your creative side and to show what you like. Once you know what colors you like and are going to use, you will know how to decorate around that color. Finding decorations or making decorations to go with your color can be fun and challenging at times. Be patient while deciding what you are going to use.

We all have talents and skills. It's finding what are talent and skills are that we can use in our daily live to keep ourselves motivated and ready to face a new day. Finding these skills and talents is a great way to meet new people, try new things and step outside of our comfort zone. A lot of people don't like to attack the last suggestions, stepping outside of our comfort zone. Stepping out of your comfort zone will help you to improve your self-confidence and your ability to try a lot of new things and find new passions.
Finding a skill and talent within you is the fun part. You may already know what some of your skills and talents are, but those skills and talents may bore you and may not keep you motivated. Finding new skills and talents can be fun and interesting. Start by trying new things and by stepping out of the box. Do something that you never thought you would do. If you are more of an outdoor person, try something outdoors. You could go hiking, bike riding or running. Finding something you are good at will help motivate you to do better. Say you decide to try hiking. You have found that you really enjoy it and want to try more trails. What's holding you back? Yourself.
Map out different trails and decide what day and what time you are going to. Making a commitment will keep you better motivated to follow through. And when you find yourself enjoying a skill or talents, you will want to do it more often. And the more often you do it, the more motivated you will feel about accomplishing other tasks.

You've seen the old cartoons where a man is trying to make a decision and on one shoulder he has a devil and on the other shoulder he has an angel. They both try to persuade him to choose their way, they fight, and the man chooses one way or the other. Sometimes you may recognize your inner voices in trying to come to a decision. There are two sides to the conversation and one side always comes out on top. The two sides to your conversation are your inner-goober and your inner-guru. If you want to get motivated to become a better you, you may have to change who it is that you frequently listen to.
To put it straight, nine out of ten people are always listening to their goober. This is the guy that tells you that you aren't worth it, you should give up, and that constantly sees obstacles. This is also the guy that throws your diet or exercise plans off course, that sees negativity in every situation, and that gets you in debt. Motivation is a skill that can be developed in life and offers many ways for people to do amazing things in their lives. For most people, motivation is something that comes around once each year and lasts for a month or two after they have set their new year's resolutions. Many quickly forget what and why these things were important to them in the first place and lose their motivation to accomplish these goals. These people are not necessarily bad, but are losing sight about one important aspect of motivation: making it last.
Motivation comes in many different forms and can be a great strength to most people. Motivation also comes in different durations and strengths which is really the differentiating factor in the matter. The problem that most people have with motivation is that they let it fizzle out and then just move onto the routine of everyday life. After the holidays have passed and things pick up with work again or when different priorities come along, they forget why their goals were important to them in the first place.
There are also times when people don't really even commit to something other than the reason that it is expected of them at the beginning of each year. There is nothing that will make motivation die faster than having it forced on you. The best kind of motivation and the only kind that will produce lasting results has to come from a deep commitment to something and a desire to see it through no matter what kind of obstacles come up.

Motivation is different for everyone and can be approached in many different ways. Most people have a main style or theme that helps them to find motivation and determines what ways will be the most effective to drive them to accomplish more. When you know what your motivational style is it will be easier for you to motivate yourself and understand how to get yourself to do more. Here are some insights in to different motivational styles to help you learn more about how to get your goals accomplished.
There are many different types of systems for determining motivation, but they are fundamentally the same. One system splits people up into groups of those that are goal oriented, those who are relationship oriented, those who are learning oriented and those who are thrill oriented. The general rule is that most people have a dominant category of way they are motivated and often have some overlap into other categories.

There are a lot of different ways that a person can become a better person. One way is for a person to become healthier. Becoming a healthier person can take a lot of motivation. This article discusses ways to help a person be motivated to become a healthier person.
Make the commitment
The first step a person needs to take to motivate them self to be a healthier person is for them to commit to it. Becoming a healthier person will take a lot of hard work. It is not easy for a person to change bad habits that they have had for many years. But if a person really makes the commitment to themselves that they are in it for the long haul and are ready to make the changes they need to make, they will be more motivated to become a healthier person.

Finding motivation is sometimes a difficult thing to do, but there are steps you can take to make it easier to get there. You will need to teach yourself how to be more self motivated and this is something that can't be forced on you but has to be a conscious decision you make.

Have you ever wondered why you are really motivated to accomplish some goals but not excited at all about others? You probably figured that goals that are more important to you are the ones that you are going to fight for right? So how do you determine what is important to you and are these important motivating factors consistent? Professor Steven Reiss has proposed a theory that there are 16 basic desires that guide nearly all of human behavior. It is the perceived importance level that each of us has in these basic desires that dictates what we are and are not motivated by. Of course this list is not all inclusive and there are certainly factors not listed here that serve as strong motivators for individuals. Here is a brief introduction and explanation of Reiss's 16 basic desires.
Acceptance - the desire for acceptance is also referred to as the need for approval. There are individuals who have a need for the extrinsic motivation that comes from other people who encourage you and who you want to please.

We get stuck in a day to day routine living our life as we always live it and not varying in case it gets uncomfortable. Sound familiar? You live in your comfort zone. But your comfort zone isn't really that comfortable is it? If you think it is, you're probably wrong. Ask yourself these questions:

Personal motivation is one of the most important aspects of our lives and drives most of the things that we do each day. Even if we are not always conscious of it, motivation is driving our actions and helps guide what we choose to do. There are many different ways that we can control what our personal motivation helps us to do. Here are some things you can do to find you own personal motivation.
One of the most important things you need to have in place when you are looking for your personal motivation is to have a good solid base and to understand what is really the most important to you. If you aren't sure what your core motivation is, you likely need to sit down and really think about what you do each day and why. This understanding will help give you more context to what you do each day and how you can best take advantage of your strengths. Knowing what is most important to you, or at least knowing what you want to be most important to you is essential to finding your personal motivation. If you don't know what drives you, then you will never be able to leverage that knowledge to get amazing things done.

Motivation is something that many people are constantly chasing and trying to make part of their lives. Many people are always looking for some kind of lofty goal that can motivate them to be their best each day, but the truth of the matter is that you don't have to be working towards a huge goal to have a great day every day. Sometimes finding motivation each day is really about all the simple things you can do to make yourself feel better.
Goals are a very important part of motivation and we set goals to keep us motivated to make progress each day and to make progress towards the things we want most. Setting goals is sometimes a very straightforward process and people are very familiar with the steps that need to be taken to set a goal and achieve it. But what many people lose sight of in the day to day living of their lives is that goals are not accomplished by leaps and bounds but rather by doing the small things each and every day. No matter what the size of our goal is, it can almost always be broken down into smaller pieces that can be done each day to help us achieve our goal. If our objective is to get a Masters Degree, then the logical conclusion is that classes should be attended each day and several hours of study set aside to learn the concepts that need to be learned. Repeating these small processes each and every day will eventually lead to the accomplishment of the larger goal we have in mind. So the daily goals and small challenges we face each day are what will really bring us success with our larger goals in life.

It seems like the most successful people are always motivated to do whatever it is on their plate at the time. However, motivation can be elusive for some people who can't seem to rise above life's ruts. The truth is everyone can be motivated. Here are a few tips for being a more motivated person.
Set Goals

Do you find yourself making goals and never quite finding the motivation to achieve them? Or maybe you frequently set goals and almost always achieve them, but don't really know why. There are many factors that dictate whether or not you will achieve your goal. Many people are pre-conditioned to be less successful at being motivated to achieve a goal. This means that, for whatever reason, some people will be less likely to achieve their goals than others. Wouldn't you like to know what is standing in your way of becoming a better you? By better understanding the basic principles of motivation, you can change those factors that dictate goal achievement and improve your ability to accomplish the goals that you set.
Basic principles of motivation include factors that are both controlled by the individual and determined by other uncontrollable factors. The key is to take the motivational factors that you can control and align them with your motivational goals; this is definitely easier said than done, but definitely possible. You may not be able to change other factors but, you can change your attitude regarding how you view these obstacles. Here are some examples of principles of motivation, whether or not you can change them, and how they are instrumental in dictating goal achievement.

We are all motivated by different things. Some people are easily motivated while others don't seem to be motivated by anything at all. If you struggle with finding motivation or are frustrated when others don't seem to be as motivated as you are, it may be helpful to learn more about what motivates you. There are two basic motivation concepts; intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation.
Intrinsic motivation involves perceiving rewards as part of the task itself. For example, someone who is intrinsically motivated will complete a task because they like to do it or because they like feeling that sense of accomplishment. Those who are intrinsically motivated generally do well in school and enjoy going on to achieve higher levels of education. People who are intrinsically motivated enjoy the sense of control that they have over their emotions. These types of people feel like their fate is directly ties to their effort. Therefore, those who are intrinsically motivated, or self motivated, feel like they are able to achieve whatever they set their mind to and feel a sense of relief from this. Intrinsically motivated individuals are not generally firm believers in the concept of luck.
Many times individuals may set goals and a part of them simply hopes that these goals will be met, this is not so with self-motivated people. Intrinsically motivated individuals believe that their own actions are going to be the deciding factors in their fate. Self motivated individuals also tend to be labeled as perfectionists. This is because someone who is intrinsically motivated generally accomplishes a task because they want to learn something along the process or challenge themselves in some way. Intrinsic motivators like to master a topic rather than simply go through the motions of getting something done.

Everyone has their own motivators. What may compel one person to action may not be of any significance at all to another person. Motivation is one of those characteristics in life that you must find on your own. No one can assign you a motivator and no one can force their definition of what motivation is on you. Psychologically, motivation theory has many definitions. But it is up to you to determine if any of the following theories have what it takes to get you motivated.
Below you will find just a sampling of some of the more common Motivation Theories. Take note that each theory is unique in its own way, providing further evidence to the point that motivation is very individual and personal in nature:
When thinking of motivation self esteem is not typically the next thing that pops into your mind. But if you stop and think about it, your level of self esteem has a great deal to do with how easily you become motivated. Motivation is really just another way of getting excited to make personal progress. When you motivate yourself you are shooting for achievement of your personal best in a given area of your life. If your level of self esteem is low, you may not be able to motivate yourself to want to work hard to accomplish a goal because you may not believe that accomplishment is something that you are capable of. Progress is defined by some as the combination of self-esteem, confidence and motivation that drives us to improvement. Without one of these characteristics personal progress is nearly impossible to recognize.

Most all of us can think of a person or two that we do not quite get along with. While some of us may have on-going feuds with these people we do not get along with, many more of us suffer dislike due to personality clashes. We are all different and although this is a beautiful thing, it naturally means that we are not going to agree with or become friends with everyone that we meet. There are going to be those people who just rub us the wrong way and make us want to walk in the other direction when we see them.
Many times the easy solution is to simply avoid the person that you do not get along with. Sometimes the people that we clash with are only acquaintances that we see on rare occasions. In cases like these it is not too hard to deal with the person you can't stand. But unfortunately you know as well as I do that the people whose personalities we clash with are often people that we see on a regular basis. Co-workers, neighbors and even some family members are among those who are some of our most inconvenient acquaintances. Obviously in situations such as this it is necessary to learn how to get along with personalities that you clash with.

Most people do not wake up one morning and decide that they are going to start motivating other people. It is most often the case that those who are motivators for others are first greatly motivated themselves. Additionally, the majority of the most motivational people in the world did not seek to become so. Great motivators are, in a sense, chosen by those whom they have motivated. Becoming a great motivator starts with simple acts that you must instigate within yourself. These motivational acts then snowball, if continued, into an example for others to follow.

There are so many things to worry about in our lives - there are bills to pay, things to do, and people to make sure have everything they need. It is odd how sometimes there are pressures and opposition that interfere with our objectives and may slow down the pace at which we want to accomplish things in our lives. The times that appear to be the most difficult are the moments where it is most important to be motivated and to overcome the obstacles that are in front of us. Staying motivated when faced with great opposition is a sometimes daunting task but is something that can be accomplished if you take the right steps to ensure your constant and future success. Here are some suggestions to help you be motivated when you are having a difficult time.
First, let's explore why people get discouraged. The biggest reason may be to a simple lack of focus. The initial focus may have been there and then lost because any number of outside influences, or it may have never fully been there in the first place. Many sports professionals say that the most important part of a game and winning is to stay focused on what the goal is. It is when they get caught up in the moment or forget why they are doing something that there begins to be unexplained problems that contribute to losses or decreased success. Losing focus is the primary reason sports teams lose a match and other people lose sight of their goals and get overwhelmed by opposition.
Motivation seems to be word that is thrown around a lot in the business world and other areas of life that are important to many people. But why is motivation so important? Why is there such an emphasis on getting and staying motivated? There are always seminars and large group meetings about getting motivated, but why is it all so important in our world? The answer is that getting and staying motivated will help you become a better you, and when you are better, you make the world around you better too.
When you were a child, you often pretended to be someone else. Maybe you pretended to be a superhero or a famous movie actor. This ability to pretend is one of the most important abilities that we have as human beings. We can actually see a possible future before it happens. We imagine what we want to happen and then work towards it. All great buildings, major motion pictures, best selling books, or even small projects like a tree house began as someone's vision of what could be. What a world we live in because of this ability we have as humans.
What stops us from accomplishing our dreams as individuals? We all have and use the ability to visualize future possibilities, so what stops those dreams from becoming reality? Is it because we lack the intrinsic motivation? No, the ability to visualize and plan for the future is the most powerful motivator we have. There are several things that must happen in order for these visions to become reality.

Have you ever wondered why some individuals are living a very successful life while others are living out their lives in failure? People that have self-confidence and motivation have more of a chance to make their dreams come true. They are fearless in their desires, they don't hesitate to take necessary action when needed, and more importantly, they never seem to give up until they live their ultimate dream. On the other hand, people who lack this ability also feel the desire to live their dreams but yet they seem to struggle and allow obstacles to stop them from fulfilling what they most desire. They don't seem to have the self-confidence or the motivation to make their dreams come true.
Many people seem to be powerless in their lives and let circumstances or individuals such as credit card debts or their boss hold them back. If only they could see the power they have to change their attitude through self-confidence and motivation. People who use self-confidence and motivation will have the power to unlock everything their heart desires as well as to find the opportunities to create the life they always wanted. Having self-confidence and motivation can help any individual achieve or attain whatever they want. They know when and how to bring up their confidence whenever it's needed.
How many people do you know that have been successful by accident? How many basketball scholarships were handed out to players who accidently got good at their sport? How many engineers got their degree in engineering without working really hard for it? Being successful is a way of life. It is a habit acquired by those who would not settle for something less than what they wanted.
The first question you may ask yourself is why you want to be successful. What is the purpose behind it? When achieving a goal has no real lasting value to you, then it will be hard to stick with. But when you find something that moves you to act, then you have something real that will motivate you during the difficult times.
There are many reasons for you to feel as though you are not going anywhere: not having enough money, enough time, lack of motivation, feeling unappreciated and the list goes on. If you are feeling depressed and stressed out with your normal life and can't seem to find motivation, this should not be good reason to give up on yourself or your goals. Motivation is the key to achieve anything you heart desires. You may sometimes find really hard to work on your personal goals or to even concentrate on them due to so many distractions in your life such as school, work, television or drama in the family. The best way to help yourself to achieve your goals is to make sure that you are mentally prepared for what life has for you. So what can you do to motivate yourself to try harder and be better?
Self-motivation is the way you get yourself up and moving as well as the way you keep on moving forward regardless of obstacles or challenges that you may face in your life to attain that ultimate goal you have set for yourself. Before you can motivate yourself, you probably need to know what drives you. If you feel that you are not as productive as you would like or tend to always procrastinate, you should try to be motivated to change your personal life style. You must find interesting and easier ways to achieve the goals that you are trying to put off.
One way to make your goal seem achievable and less discouraging is to divide it into smaller goals and into several steps over a few days or a few weeks. If your goal is to clean your entire house, you may see it as time consuming and boring. But if you break it into smaller tasks to make them seem more manageable, this can actually helps you be motivated. Start with the master bedroom on your first day of cleaning, then the children's bedrooms the following day, the kitchen and the living room next and the bathrooms at the end of the week, you may actually find the idea of cleaning your entire home less difficult. You may as well be surprised to see that you were able to complete your house cleaning task in considerably less time.
Many people allow everyday life to get in the way of choosing their life plan. Going to work, coming home, doing some chores, and watching television often is much easier than working on following your dreams and achieving goals needed to make those dreams a reality.
Choosing a life path is something that only you can do. Keep in mind, it is not written in stone you must follow this path. You can always change your mind, so don't be afraid to do so. Once you have chosen a life path, write it down. It does not have to be detailed, just write it down and then take a little time to think about it. Then begin to add details to it as you think of them. Keep adding more and more details as they come to you. You will want to include things like if there will be money required to follow this path, along with specifics of exactly what it is you want to achieve, and so on.

Being motivated to being successful in both personal and professional goals should be intertwined under one super-objective. The motivation should be for something greater than oneself and the career that one is involved with. The reasons for doing anything should be a cause that inspires and motivates one to work with every ounce of energy. If this happens, happiness takes over and personal goals along with professional goals are realized. Here are some steps for being motivated to meet both personal and professional goals.
1. Prioritize your life so that you can balance between you personal and professional goals. For someone who may be raising or be a member of a family, it is crucial to know the balance between work and your home life. Taking time away from work to take care of family duties is a part of being in a family. Sacrificing time with family to have a career is also necessary as well. Being motivated to be good at both comes from a desire to be better. Knowing how to be good at both takes practice at making goals and watching yourself be successful at them. Once you have seen yourself be successful in both arenas in life, you will surprise yourself at how motivated you really are to realize your professional and personal goals.

Finding the right tools and motivation can be extremely difficult when you are trying to lose weight. Everyone's tried them: crashdiets, protein diets, carb diets. You name it, it's out there! So what is it that will help give you the motivation to lose the weight, and keep it off? Believe it or not, there are some tools for weight loss out there. These aren't your "in and out" fad diets, no short cuts, or magic pills. These are tried and tested tools that everyday people can use. The goal is finding the right motivational tool that will help you!
What motivates you?
When people look at themselves in the mirror, they usually have an overall opinion about themselves. Whether it is a purely physical opinion or whether the opinion is filled with self doubt and a lack of confidence in one's inner self. Whatever the feelings are, people are motivated to change things about themselves when they can see them glaring back at them. Taking this motivation and using it for good can be the thing that will make them a better person. Here are some tips on to choose realistic changes to motivate yourself to make them happen.
1. Know what your limits are and set boundaries for yourself. It is terrible to set yourself high and lofty goals and not set boundaries to protect yourself from your weaknesses. This would result in immediate failure which will have the complete opposite affect on your motivation for change. What you want to do is set up boundaries so that they create an environment where you can thrive and be successful at whatever you are doing. For example, an overeater trying to change his eating habits so that he can become healthy again would need to put himself into positions where he can't overeat or be tempted to overeat. It would be much easier to stay home on the weekend rather than go out with his friends to the buffet for lunch and dinner because having to face those strong addictions becomes almost impossible, even unbearable for those struggling individuals. Former drinkers have to separate themselves from alcohol and avoid it for many years after. If they come into contact with it, they either need to vacate the scene or focus all thoughts toward other things. If they have been able to be successful for some time, their motivation to be stronger than their addiction can lead them to continue with the changes that they have made in their own lives.

Here are some little things you can do daily to stay motivated. In order to stay motivated, you will need to have a positive though pattern, or at lease a positive plan in place for the times you feel less motivated.
Before you get down, it is a great idea to keep yourself up on a daily basis by doing these little things daily to keep your spirits up. That way the process of getting motivated will be a steady pattern, instead of having to force yourself up from a bottom mark.
Here are some great tips for instant motivation. We all run into those times in our days that we feel a little less motivated than we normally would. This can be cause by a lack of interest in what we are doing. Or it can be the mood we are in at the time. However, what ever the cause is, we can do some little things that will pick us up and get our motivated thinking going again.
Here are the tips that will make it easier to get back into what we were doing, and to be more motivated.
Tip #1
Becoming more confident through motivation is a process that takes time to take effect in one's life. There needs to be experiences that show them exactly what will happen when they put their efforts toward a goal and watch it happen before their eyes. There is a confidence that comes when people see the fruits of their labors. Knowing that you have what it takes to be whatever it is you want yourself to be is an exciting force for self motivation.
Being motivated is an interesting thing to study. Watching someone who is motivated and then comparing that person with someone who is not is like looking at the difference between fire and water. When someone is motivated to do something, they go about their problems and obstacles in a completely different way. Instead of sitting down and giving up on themselves, they look at the situation as a stair step that will lead them one step above what they were before and one step closer to achieving whatever it is they are after. Seeing the difference will be illustrated in the following example.
How knowing success comes from small simple steps, helps keep you motivated. The thing about small steps is that they are easy to take. That means more feelings of accomplishment. Therefore, the more feelings of accomplishment you have, the better chance is you will feel motivated. With this in mind you will see that knowing that the small simple steps you take really will help to get your motivated.
Ok, I know what you are thinking. How can you feel good about the little steps? They do seem rather insignificant. You know what though, as humans we sweat the small stuff, we fight over the small issues, and we do praise our children when they are taking those small steps.

Getting motivated, and staying motivated are two very different things. A lot of the times you get motivated and you are motivated for a week, or a couple hours, or even maybe a month, and then your resolution fails. So, how can you stay motivated long term so that you accomplish your dreams and goals? The following are some tips for staying motivated long term:
Tip one: Use what works for you. A lot of times people already know what motivates them, but they forget, or they look for something else. There is no reason to look for something else if you have found something that works to motivate you. So, if you watch a movie that moves you, or if you read a book that gets you inspired to change your life, or if you listen to someone speak, and they motivate you, use it! It is likely you've experienced one or more things that have really had a way of motivating you. Revisit them on a regular basis, if you do it is like going to the gas station and refueling your vehicle.

A motivated mind is achieved when all of one's energy goes into the things that are most important. Setting goals to build a life is the foundation for achieving the power of a motivated mind. Knowing how to set goals and ways of accomplishing them will also create a sense of confidence in one's personal abilities. Having this inner confidence will make whatever goal that is being achieved already accomplished because the person feels so sure that they will experience whatever it is they are after. Here are some tips on how to achieve a motivated mind.
1. List your goals out onto a piece of paper. Look them over and decide which ones need to happen first. When you have decided on those most important goals, look them over again and form a plan in your mind to help achieve those goals. Write out these plans and make them something that you read every day. Make little posters of them and put them up in places that you occupy all of the time, such as your bedroom, the bathroom, the kitchen, wherever you feel like you will be able to read it. Having these things constantly in your head will help conquer the doubts and fears that arise from being human. There is a power in the mind that will take over once you let those fears and worries subside and let your own abilities take over and drive your toward your goal.
People fall into pitfalls and traps all of the time when they try to find motivation in the wrong places. People sometimes find success in ways that hurts those around them and think that they somehow are better than those people who helped them get there. Here is a look at motivation myths in our society.
Many people believe that if they can just strike it rich, they will be successful in whatever they want to become. While it is true that money and fame can help success breed new success, it is not necessarily the right way to go about things. There are ways people try to better themselves society that involves cheating, stealing, and lying in all forms. People feel that they are ok to do if they are done in order to improve their situation. Just because someone is motivated to do these things does not make it a respectable motivation. For example, people in the political world have been known to build a persona that reflects the idealistic American in order to win the votes of Americans by gaining some kind of trust with the voters who see them. Many times the truth is bent to look more than what it is in order to help someone become successful. While it is true that success in some degree can be won, it a myth that the person will be happier in such a position with that knowledge on their mind. People know right from wrong whether they are willing to admit what they are doing is truly wrong or not.
The following are some of the reasons it is important to be motivated to be honest in all things:
1. If you are not motivated then when faced with a tough situation you won't be honest, and that can lead to several complicated problems. For example, let's say you are a business man and you have a client who invests a lot of money in your business. They trust you so they do not watch you carefully, or pay much attention to what you do with their money. If you are not motivated to be honest in all things, it could be tempting to take some of that investment money and use it for things you are not supposed to. However, if you are motivated to be honest in all things then when you are faced with one of these tough situations your decision is easy, and fast, you will not be tempted to be dishonest. If you were dishonest you could be in big trouble. For example, this business man, should the investor look into things, he could lose his business, and he could go to jail for embezzling money, etc. So, it is important to get motivated now for the big reasons, but there are small reasons as well.

It can be hard to speak kind words to others, especially people we do not really like, or at times when we are angry or upset. There are plenty of reasons you should seek to be motivated to speak only kind words. The following are a few of the very best reasons to speak only kind words:
More friends: If you speak only kind words to people you will have a lot more friends. If you are being a jerk people are not going to want to be your friend. Think about it, would you rather be friends with someone who puts you down and says unkind things, or would you rather be friends with someone who only lets kind words leave their mouth? Well, then be that person.

Sleep is an important process that helps us to function properly throughout the day. If you do not get enough sleep, generally you will be grumpy, frustrated with life, and just not be as effective. We all know how important sleep is, but sometimes it is hard to get motivated to get appropriate sleep, especially since there are so many distractions. Distractions are what keep people from getting sleep, so how can you get motivated to get enough sleep despite distractions? Try the following:
1. To get motivated to get enough sleep you will want to start your evenings earlier. A lot of times people go to bed late because they want to get a full night of fun in. No one wants to come home from work and spend only a few minutes doing something before they go to bed. So, instead they watch a movie, go out with friends, or just flip through the channels over and over watching nothing just so they do not have to go to bed. So, if you start your evening earlier, then you will be more motivated to get appropriate sleep because you won't want to stay up just to do it. Instead of going to dinner at 7:30 to start the night, go to dinner at 5:30. The difference in going to bed at 10 versus midnight is huge! So, start early and be more motivated to get enough sleep.
Self esteem is something everyone could use a little more of, whether you are eighty, eighteen, or eight, having some self esteem is important. Even old ladies who have been around the block a time or two want to look their best when they go out with friends, etc. and this is because they want to value themselves, and have others value them. Everyone wants to feel good about themself, so how do you improve your self esteem no matter who you are? Motivation! Motivation is the answer. Let's take a look at why.
Motivation is the key to self esteem because it is through motivation that you accomplish the things that help you recognize your potential, and realize your self worth.
The link between motivation and self image is real. If you are an unmotivated person who just sits around doing nothing all day it is going to be pretty difficult to feel good about yourself. Motivation leads to action, and it is through action that we see character and discover our true selves. The following is a look at how motivation helps you to improve your self image, and thus become a happier, more confident, and more successful person. It is important to get motivated, here is why:
Let's look at some examples of the cause and effect of getting motivated, and how that leads to a better self image. Think of this scenario. You feel awful, you just rolled out of bed. You have not brushed your teeth. You are wearing baggy sweats with stains and tears. Now compare your self image with this you. You get a new hair cut or look, shower, get all dressed up in nice new, name brand clothes, you have a great tan, and a great car. Ok, picture yourself as both of these people and image that you look in the mirror. It is true, how you look, and how you feel impacts your confidence and self image, and this is just one little example. So, what does motivation have to do with all of this? Think about this.

There are many reasons to repair damaged relationships, but the following is five motivations to do just that:
Motivation one: You retain a friend. The idea is about expanding your friendships. If you repair damaged relationships you will have more friends. Having more friends is a very good thing. It means having more people to hang out with, more people to be able to turn to when you are in need, more people to laugh and joke with, play games with, etc. It takes a long time, and a lot of work to establish a good relationship, and letting one go because of some damage is a waste. Instead of reinvesting all of that time, repair the relationship and watch it grow stronger because of it.
In life we expect this and that of others, and we are very disappointed when they do not come through. We have high expectations of movies, books, schools, etc. Well, what about of ourselves? How can you expect more from yourself?
In order to expect more from yourself, try the following:

We all want something out of life, and yet sometimes we do not really know what. There are basic truths that we can figure out, such as we want meaningful relationships, a good job, etc. However, there are sometimes hidden desires. So, how can you figure out what you want, and then get motivated to go and get it? Try the following:
First and foremost you have to forget the past, or at least let go of it. You can not create a bigger, better, brighter future if you dwell on pains of the past. Just because you may have failed once does not mean you will fail forever. So, learn from your mistakes, and then overcome them. You do not want to let past mistakes keep you from finding your dreams.

Ok, if you want to stay motivated to achieve your goals, then you have to boost your motivation. It is important that you try the following suggestions for how to boost your motivation to achieve your goals:
Share the excitement with others. When you first set a goal, you are pretty excited about it. Do not keep that to yourself, share it with others. If you tell others about it and get others involved in your plans, then your dream becomes more tangible. You stay motivated longer because others keep you going, ask about your goals, remind you, etc.
If you can figure out what motivates you, and use this knowledge to help yourself be motivated to become a better person all around-mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually-then you will have it made. People who know how to get motivated usually end up successful, happy, and are envied. So, find what motivates you, and channel it for good. Here's how:
Look at underlying reasons you do things. Is it for a boy? To be cool? To get fit? To be healthy? To get a better job? For money? Each of us is motivated in some area of our life already. You may be a very motivated athlete who gets up early to work out. You may be motivated to be spiritual, attend church each week, read scriptures daily, etc. You may be motivated to be a good mother, your kids are always clean, dressed, fed, you read to them, etc. You may be motivated to be a good employee, you show up on time, you work hard when you are on the clock, etc. There are plenty of things you can be motivated to be. But the question is why? The athlete might be motivated by the way they feel after they work out, or the attention they get as they excel in this area. The person who is spiritually motivated might find this motivation in their desire to know God and feel his love, as well as the peace they get in having purpose. The motivated mother may be motivated by the need to please their husband and get social acceptance. There are underlying causes to each area of motivation, it is your job to figure out what yours is.
If you want to get motivated, you have to establish the kinds of habits that help you get motivated, such as positive thinking, daily time for improving yourself, etc. Try the following ways of establishing habits to help you get more motivated:
Take action: We all have things we think we want to change, the problem is that no matter how much you want to change something, change will never come from thinking alone. You must take action. So, establish habits where you immediately take action. If you are reading and you think about the fact that the laundry needs to be switched over, do not finish the chapter before doing it. Take action right away! These small habits set you up for taking action when it is something big, harder, and not as exciting.
A lot of times it is hard to work, there are plenty of distractions, television, drama in your family, the snack machine, lunch break, whatever it is. Many times we get too comfortable in life and instead of working the way we should we just coast by. So how do you get motivated to work harder? Try some of the following:
1. Recognize benefits of hard work. There are many benefits that come from working hard. The satisfaction of knowing you put in a good effort and did not slack. The fact that when you work hard you get better results. The recognition that you get from others. The accomplishment itself. The list goes on. However, if you recognize the benefits of hard work you can use them to motivate you to work harder. For example, if you recognize that if you work hard you get more done faster, you can use that as a motivator on days when you have plans in the evening and do not want the weight of unfinished work hanging over your head all night. Another example is that sometimes the benefit of hard work is a raise, or a promotion. So, you can use that as a motivator to put in the time and effort because you know that your efforts will not go unnoticed, and that you will enjoy the benefit greatly, but that it can't come without the hard work.
Pretenses are ridiculous, especially among friends and close associates, however, we have all been raised to shield who we really are. The problem is, if we hang on to those pretenses, we can be in close relationships before we ever learn to let them go, and then we do not know how. The following are some ways you can let go of pretenses:
1. Recognize the benefits of dropping the act. It can be a huge benefit to you to let people see you for who you are. This means drop the act. Now you may at first only see the risk, the vulnerability. However, there are some huge advantages of laying it out there, and being just you. One such advantage is that people will set their expectations of you at levels you can reach. If you pretend to be wealthy and you aren't you will find yourself hurting when others invite you to do things that cost a lot of money. If you pretend to be smarter than you are, you may find yourself lost in a conversation above your field of knowledge. So, these benefits mean more comfort, more truth, and most importantly, never being in a situation you do not want to be in.
Life is fun, hard, easy, scary, and every other adjective out there. A lot of times we just get caught up in the confusion and mayhem of life and forget about our priorities. So, how can you get motivated to work on your priorities? Try some of the following:
1. First determine what your priorities are. It is hard to get motivated to work on your priorities if your priorities are not clear. You will want to sit down and right them out, be honest with yourself about what your priorities are. You may want family to be your number one priority, but work might be instead, or sleep, or food. So start by writing out what your priorities actually are, then write down what you want them to be. This will help you see what needs to be done when you work on them, and a clear picture of the task is a lot less intimidating then some vague ideas, so you will be much more likely to get motivated. Once you have them written down it is hard to ignore them, so that will also help to motivate you to work on your priorities.
Gossiping is usually easy to do, there is always someone who will be willing to listen, and there is always something worth gossiping about. So, how can you get motivated to gossip less when there is so much to gossip about? Well, try some of the following:
1. Think about how you hate when people gossip about you. How does that make you feel? A lot of times all the motivation you need to stop gossiping is a look at how you feel. It is not fun being the one that is gossiped about, and it is certainly not fun to hear that others have said unkind things about you or your family in the circles of gossip. How do you feel about people who gossip about you? You probably sort of hate them, or at least dislike that they do that. So, why would you want to be someone that does that? Ask yourself this question next time and every time you are tempted to gossip. It is wise to put yourself into the shoes of the one the gossip is about. It is wise to ask yourself if what you are saying really needs to be said. Gossip has other names, such as trash talking, or talking behind someone's back, and none of the names or connotations that go along with gossip is positive. So, what makes you think it is a good thing to do? When you think about gossip in this light, from this perspective, and with an open mind you will be motivated to gossip less because you will know that it is hurtful and that is not the kind of person you want to be.
We all want to look fit and trim, but sometimes it is hard to actually take the steps to hit the gym. Working out is easier said than done. The following are some steps for getting motivated to get some exercise:
Step one: Find a work out buddy. It is so much easier to get in to the gym, go for a job, or even do aerobics in your home if you have a buddy to do it with. A buddy will motivate you because it is easy to let yourself down, and not do what you told yourself you would, but it is much harder to let someone else down. If you tell a friend you are going to meet them to go jogging at six am, the chances of not getting out of bed, or hitting the snooze button drop. However, if you just tell yourself that you are going to go jogging at six, then you will probably just hit the snooze because you are too tired, or tell yourself you will go later. Then life happens and you never find the time. So, find a work out buddy and your motivation to work out will sky rocket.
We all want to be healthy and feel good, but we also want to eat cheeseburgers, milkshakes, candy, cheese, mayo, etc. So, how can we get motivated to eat healthier? The following are some suggestions for how you can get motivated to eat healthier:
1. Find some good tasting healthy recipes. If you want to eat healthier, but the food that you consider healthy tastes bad to you, it will not matter what else you do, you can't get motivated. So, to start on the path of motivation to healthy eating, you have to find good tasting healthy recipes, or healthy ways to substitute unhealthy ingredients in recipes you already have and love. There are plenty of health websites and books that can supply you with healthy recipes. For example, originalfastfoods.com offers meal plans, and all of their recipes are extremely healthy, easy to make, and most are incredibly tasty as well. So, try these out, these good tasting healthy recipes will motivate you to eat healthier because you can do it without sacrificing flavor.
When we are in a hurry we sometimes drive too fast. If we are feeling tired we may stay on the road even if we shouldn't. There are times in our lives when we are not paying attention, we are talking on the phone, our mind is elsewhere, etc. and yet we still drive. So, how do you get motivated to drive safe? Try the following:
Watch the news. It is amazing how motivating the news can be when you want some motivation to drive more safely. If you watch the news regularly you will see night after night horrific accidents caused by people driving drunk, tired, talking on their cell phones, not wearing seatbelts, have kids out of car seats etc. When you watch those things you always think that you would never do that. Yet, how many times have you tried to eat and drive, or talk and drive, or change the station and drive? So, next time you watch the news think about it as if it were you. Think about how you would feel if it was your child who got hit by a poor driver, or you were the one who hit the pedestrian. Sometimes thinking out scenarios is the best motivator to not let yourself get into those scenarios. So, watch the news, think about what you see and how easily so many of those things could be avoided just by someone taking an active interest in being a safer driver, and then do that in your own life.
There are many ways to get motivated to be productive. Being more productive is good all around, but we live in a lazy world and it is so easy to not be productive, especially with so many distractions. Try some of the following:
1. Look at results of not being productive. A lot of times it is difficult to get motivated to be productive. We would rather sleep, eat, watch television, or do any number of other things rather than be productive, especially on a day off. So, one of the best ways to be motivated to be productive is to look at what will happen to your life if you are not productive. For example, let's say you have a lot of work to do, and you have three hours today to do it, and then the next day. If you waste your time during those three hours, then the next day you will be stressed out and have no free time. So, what if someone were to call you and invite you to the movies. Because you were not productive the day before you won't be able to go. By not being productive during some free time, or even during time devoted to work, you end up having less fun later. But, if you are productive, you feel good about things, and you get the huge benefit of having the ability to do things on the spur of the moment later.
We all love the convenience of going out to eat, there is not mess to clean up, no work to speak of, and it is good food, and usually good company. With this in mind, how can you get motivated to cook at home? Try the following:
1. In a one month period record how much money you spend on eating out. Then average out the amount of work hours you have to do to eat out this often. Sometimes the best motivator for staying at home to cook is simply seeing how much of your hard earned money is being spent on service and not doing your own dishes. While this is nice, you may find that if you cut eating out out of your routine, that you could work one less day a week. Not that you would work less, but just that it is a good reality check to see that you are spending so much of your income on eating out. So, calculate how much you psend eating out in a month. Then look at that amount and determine what else you could be spending your money on. For example, let's just say you eat out one night a week, and you eat at a nice place, and you eat lunch out a couple times a week. So, for the two of you, let's just say you spend $60 a week eating out. In a month that is $240. After just a few months you could buy a nice new television, make a car payment, etc. So, use the possibilities as a motivator. Next time you are tempted to go out to eat, stay in, and put the money you would have spent in a jar. Then reward yourself at the end of the month and buy something lasting.

We have all said things that we have regretted later, whether that regret was instant or came later, the result is the same, a wish that we could just bridle our tongue and not say something we shouldn't (or type something we shouldn't, etc.). So, how do you get motivated to bridle your tongue? Try some of the following:
