Does "the secret" work?

"The Secret" is a strategy, for sale, whose creators claim can unlock the key to delivering to you your inner most thoughts, desires, and far-fetched wishes. There are those who swear by the principles of the Secret and others who are sure that the Secret is just another sales gimmick used to trick the gullible among us into spending our money. The main criticism of the Secret is that it sounds too easy. The claim is that you can change your thoughts, believe you have received your desires and soon you will receive what you were hoping for.

In reality, the Secret is a little bit more involve than just thinking things into reality. For the Secret to work, every single little detail in your life must be in line with your desires. This is what really makes the magic and this is where the challenge is. Align those details of your life perfectly and combine them with positive beliefs and optimism and all of the sudden you have what it takes to get anything that you desire.

The Secret poses a problem to many because of the difficulty involved in aligning everything in their lives perfectly. Life is not perfect! Moods change, stressors change, there are variables in what you thought would be constants. Getting your life to that ideal spot is just as challenging as accomplishing the goal that you are hoping to obtain through the Secret process in the first place.

It takes a great deal of self-control to get the most out of the Secret methodology. You need to constantly monitor your thoughts and make sure they are in alignment with your desires. The Secret promotes a method of thinking that may be completely contrary to what comes naturally to most. For example, if a person's desire is to make more money, their natural reaction to monetary issues might be something like, "when I have money I want to go on vacation." With the Secret, instead your mentality should be 'I will have money soon and so I need to start planning that vacation'. You must believe and act as if you have money now. Doing this without having the nagging feeling that you know what you are saying isn't true can be a huge mental obstacle, especially those who are very practical and methodical.

In addition to changing your thought process so that you are envisioning yourself in the situation of your desires, there are physical changes that are suggested by the Secret. You are encouraged to start making changes now and acting as if your dreams were reality. You could make physical reminders for yourself like posting notes all around your home, in your car, in your wallet to reinforce your new beliefs. You could also them out loud or look into the mirror and say your desires as if they were true now. The Secret encourages followers to avoid people who make them feel like you will never achieve your desires by thinking positively. These people will only stifle the process.

The conclusion to all this is that the Secret can really work, but only for certain people who want for it to work badly enough to fully embrace what the methodologies ask you to embrace. This is no half-hearted or weekend warrior type of a program. It is a way of life that some people can really get excited about, while others look on with sheer amazement, that someone could fall for such crockery. If you want to be a believer in the benefits of the Secret, it is suggested that you start talking to those who have followed its principles and who are now reaping the benefits.
