2. Know your limits. Set realistic goals for yourself and then take time to enjoy the moments when you have succeeded. These small moments are times that feed the motivation to continue. The mind will take in everything and prepare you emotionally for another venture forward in your plans. When a goal is accomplished, it is one step closer to a super objective that is set so high above yourself. If the smaller goals hadn't been set and you didn't take time to find joy in those accomplishments, then it will be quite impossible for the mind to comprehend that possibility of the super-objective.
3. Think positively about yourself. You should be confident that you have the skills and abilities necessary to do what you have to do. Know that if you put your heart and soul into what you are doing that your abilities will lead you to success. If you can see it in the picture in your mind, then your future has it in store for you to enjoy.
4. Be prepared. Motivation comes from knowing that you are ready to face whatever it is you need to face. Whether it is a test, a job interview, or even raising a child, knowing that you have prepared yourself will make entering the ring a safer experience and give you a head start into whatever it is you are involved with. "Be prepared" is the Boy Scouts' motto. Scouts who venture into the wilderness are mentally and emotionally prepared and are motivated to concur their fears as they set out to learn knew skills that will greatly increase their confidence in themselves as they equip themselves with tools that will make them greater.
5. Talk to people who are older than you and take their advice. Motivation can come as easily as learning from someone who has gone a little way in the direction you are heading. Whether or not they were the first, they will have words to encourage and to teach. For example, a Grandfather can offer his own son much advice and council to help motivate him to be a good father to his kids. By setting a good example throughout his life and offering advice at any corner, the father grows to become a motivated man who has mentally and emotionally prepared himself for the decision to start a family.
Being motivated is all in the mind. Your mind will hinder you or help you as it is used accordingly. Focusing the mind on the goal and pushing out doubts and fears will make the outcome possible and successes will only help fuel the growing confidence inside you.
