Pretend your job depends on it.
If you are trying to get out the door on time to get to work, one way to get motivated is to think that your job depends on it. And, in many cases, it just might. With the economy the way it is these days, employers who are looking to cut costs and downsize will go for the people who aren't working as hard, and that includes in making an effort to get to work on time. Keeping this in mind is great motivation to get out the door on time.
Get ready the night before.
You'll be more motivated and more likely to get out the door on time each morning by getting everything ready the night before. This will make getting ready and leaving the house a much smoother process. Make sure your clothes and your children's clothes and shoes are clean and hanging up or set out. This will help eliminate the mad dash of looking for a specific shoe or having to come up with another outfit after finding the shirt you wanted to wear in the laundry hamper. If you pack your lunch, do this the night before as well. You can cut down a significant amount of time on your morning routing by taking a few minutes each night to prepare for the next day.
Set your alarm a few minutes early.
If you routinely run about 5 or 10 minutes late each day, or you know you're going to hit the snooze button a couple times, start setting your alarm clock for 15 or 20 minutes earlier each day. This will give you a little extra time to get ready or doze for a few minutes before getting up and getting ready to leave for the day.
Go to bed on time.
Many people find themselves running late because they went to bed late and wanted to sleep in a little extra time. If you make the effort to start getting to bed at a reasonable hour, chances are you will start to wake up naturally without being tired and without the help of your alarm clock. This will help you to get out the door on time the next day.
Reward yourself.
If you are having trouble getting out the door on time, consider bribing yourself with a reward! For example, tell yourself if you can be out the door on time every day for 2 weeks, you will treat yourself to something you have been wanting, such as seeing a new movie or getting a manicure.
Getting out the door on time doesn't have to be hard. These are a few tips that will help you get motivated to get out the door on time.
