Getting motivated to knock off the procrastination
Procrastination is the disease the effects millions, and while never killing anyone, sure can make your life harder. So, how do you get motivated to knock off the procrastination? Try some of the following tips:
1. Spend one week without procrastinating. It is amazing to see how useful you can be, and if you spend just one week without procrastination you will be hard pressed to start doing it again. Why? Because when you do not procrastinate things, but do them right away your life becomes so much easier. You find you have more free time, more time to relax, and less worry, stress, and tasks hanging over your head and making you feel bad when you are trying to relax. Not procrastinating feels great, and yet we all find that procrastination is easier. Easier at first, anyway. So, if you want to get motivated to knock off the procrastination, do a trial period of no procrastination and see how good you feel about yourself, your accomplishments, your life, and most importantly about not procrastinating. It is like a second chance, a life to start anew without being behind, without the stress and worry of tasks put off to another day when they could have been done today.

2. Set a schedule for yourself. If you want to get motivated to not procrastinate you have to make a to do list with a date on it. This means it is not something to be done arbitrarily at some point in the future, but to be done today. Then, after you determine what you need to do, determine when you are going to do it. If you do this, you will know if you have too much on your list so that it is impossible to accomplish everything, or you will know that it really will not take you all that long, and if you do it right away you will have plenty of time to relax and enjoy life later. Setting a schedule is a good motivator because it gives you a clear picture of when you can relax and do nothing, and when you should be doing something. So, in other words it gives you a guilt trip when you know you should be working on something and instead you are watching television or taking a late afternoon nap.
3. Build in rewards for non-procrastination. If you want to get motivated not to procrastinate you will want to have rewards. Rewards are great motivators. Rewards can be tangible things like a cupcake if you make dinner right away, or a new book if you finish all of your homework before the weekend, etc. Or rewards can be things like getting to take a nap, or soak in the tub. Only you can know what rewards will get you motivated. If it is a flat screen television you want, then reward yourself with small contributions to your flat screen fund until you have enough to get it. You determine your rewards, do not make them too outlandish, but also make sure they are good enough to motivate you to get to work now instead of later.
Procrastination is a boon to us all, so overcome it through using the above steps to get motivated. You will enjoy life more, be more productive, and find that procrastinating is a silly excuse for laziness, and that it is far better to just get it done now instead of let it bother you until you finally get around to it later.
