Getting motivated to stay healthy
There has come in time in practically everyone's life when they stop exercising. Perhaps it is because you went on vacation and you were busy with other things or you had a stressful week at work and put in some serious overtime. No matter what your excuse is, getting back on the exercise routine is going to be hard. Having the motivation comes from your own personal desires. Unless you hire a personal trainer to get you out of bed, there isn't going to be anyone to force you to start exercising. It all comes down to your willpower. Here are some tips to help you get motivated to stay healthy:

- Trick yourself into exercise. If you like to watch a little television, only allow yourself to do it while you are exercising. Get rid of all the junk food in the home and replace it with healthier alternatives. When you get a craving, you have no choice by to go for the healthier snack options.
- Set some goals for yourself. If you want to lose weight, write down what your ideal weight or body image is and then use small goals to get there. As you accomplish the smaller goals, reward yourself and use them to get motivated about accomplishing the larger goals.
- Join a gym or health club. Paying monthly fees is enough to motivate some people to exercise. If you really don't care about $30 coming out of your bank account each month, then you are just wasting your money. Find a health club that is going to motivate you to exercise. Perhaps they have state of the art equipment or they are close to home. Look for a gym that can offer you some extra incentive to exercise. Some gyms will have a wall of members that set goals to lose weight and actually achieve it, have this be one of your goals to lose weight. Look for a gym that can offer you everything you want like rock climbing, swimming, etc. Finding a gym that can offer all types of workouts can really inspire you to exercise and stay healthy.
- Find a workout buddy. Getting someone else to get healthy with you is a great way to get motivated to get healthy. If possible, find 2 or 3 people to join your group. If someone tries to come up with an excuse, the rest of you can get them back on track quickly.
- Have a schedule. In order to get motivated to get healthy, you need to plan it into your daily routine. This way you know when that alarm goes off in the morning, its time to exercise or you can eat till you exercise. Having exercise built right into your daily routine can make it easier to get rid of the "time" excuse. Plus it can help you prioritize your time for all the other activities you are involved in.
- Patience. Getting healthy takes time and dedication from you. If you are losing weight, it will take upwards of a year before you may be able to get the body you want. Have patience with your exercise routines because your muscles are adjusting to them and it may take some time before they start getting stronger.
- Think positive. We are often our own worst enemies. Don't talk down to yourself and let you think that you cannot accomplish your commitment to improving your health. Stay positive and congratulate yourself for even making the decision to start exercising and getting healthy. Write down one thing you enjoyed during your workout and remind yourself of this during your next workout. Before you know it, you will get into the shape and clothes you have always wanted!
