Getting motivated to work on priorities
Life is fun, hard, easy, scary, and every other adjective out there. A lot of times we just get caught up in the confusion and mayhem of life and forget about our priorities. So, how can you get motivated to work on your priorities? Try some of the following:
1. First determine what your priorities are. It is hard to get motivated to work on your priorities if your priorities are not clear. You will want to sit down and right them out, be honest with yourself about what your priorities are. You may want family to be your number one priority, but work might be instead, or sleep, or food. So start by writing out what your priorities actually are, then write down what you want them to be. This will help you see what needs to be done when you work on them, and a clear picture of the task is a lot less intimidating then some vague ideas, so you will be much more likely to get motivated. Once you have them written down it is hard to ignore them, so that will also help to motivate you to work on your priorities.

2. Next determine what will happen if you do not work on your priorities. A lot of times looking at the consequences of not working on your priorities is the best motivator to get you working on them. For example, the man who has work as his first priority, and family second could determine that the consequence of not changing them and working on them could mean the loss of his wife and family. This may be just what he needs to light a fire under his butt and get him working on his priorities and making his family first. If someone finds that their social life is a priority over homework, they need to look at the consequences of this. It could mean not passing your classes, not graduating, or not being able to get into the college you want because your grades are too low. It is up to you to determine what your priorities are, but all of them hold consequences if mis-ordered. If you look at those consequences, and internalize them, usually that will be enough to get you motivated to work on your priorities because you will see what happens if you don't, and you won't like it.
3. Set goals. Last but not least, to get motivated to do something it helps to make it a well thought out goal. Just saying you want to do something is not the same as making it a goal. Goals usually have steps to get you there, a deadline or date which you want to achieve this by, and goals usually involve more support. They are not mere wishes, but things you are taking action to accomplish. So, set a goal, write it out, as this is very important, post it where you can see it. Post reminders, and make sure you are constantly subconsciously thinking about what your priorities are and what they should be. If you do this you will have the necessary motivation to work on your priorities.
Priorities determine what comes first, and what is last in our life. They help others feel love from us, or neglect, so getting motivated to work on your priorities, and "get them straight" is important. Do the above and you will find you will be far more motivated to work on your priorities.
