How being motivated enhances your health.

Staying motivated can enhance your health in either a positive or negative way. Motivation is what gives you your desire, or excuse, to continue what you are doing or change. We are all interested in having good health, in spite of the bad habits that we may have. The key to having good health is to stay motivated and to have a driving force that will help you stick to your goals.
For some, many goals have to be set and many habits changed and for others it may not be so difficult. For those that seem to have it easier, they may only need to altar just a few things in their life, however, motivation remains as the key source in any desire to enhance your health. A lot or jut a little.

Some key factors in how being motivated enhances your health, are:

Diet: It is important that your diet is not only healthy, but that you like and enjoy the food that you eat. This will help motivate you. When you reach your desired goal, whether it is your weight, lowering your cholesterol, or even balancing a new diet due to disorders or diseases, you have to be able to continue on with that same diet that helped you reach your goal. Otherwise, it would be very easy to return to your old eating habits, which could be, in some cases, bad for your health. So remember, you are what you eat. Explore the different foods that will help you to stay motivated. Do you like your food raw or cooked? Incorporate these foods into your daily or weekly menus for both you and your family.

A second factor in motivation deals closely with the first, which is:

Support: Who is your support system? It would be rather difficult to be around others who do not support your nutritional or exercise habits. Do they sit on the couch munching on junk food, all the while you are running on the tread mill, and downing any raw vegetable within reach? It is important that you create an environment around you that will help you to stay motivated in your efforts to maintain your health.
Clear the home and work places of any junk food. Replace those easy to reach snacks with something healthier. It is important to have something readily available should the sudden urge to eat come upon you. So, keep it healthy. By doing this you also will increase the chances of having good health in your friends and family members. Ask others to help you out by only having healthy food and snacks around, or to not eat "unhealthy" foods around you. This might cause too great of temptation for you. Your support system is important, they can help you to stay focused and motivated. We all need a cheering squad. We feel better about ourselves when we know that someone else approves and supports what we are doing.

A third factor in the motivation of better health is:

Lifestyle: What does your lifestyle consist of? It is important that your lifestyle allows you to be motivated. For example, does your job allow you to get enough sleep at night? Do you spend most of your day either standing or sitting? Using your hands, lifting and bending? Determine if any of these factors are responsible for either your good or bad health. If so, take into consideration if any changes can be made or allowed. It is hard to stay motivated if there are too many factors that go against the goal that you are reaching for. Do you have enough time in the day for exercise? If exercise is required to maintain weight control, it is important to work it into your day even if it requires splitting it up into two different sessions. Evaluate what you are able to give up or replace in order for your lifestyle to coincide with your goals. This will also help you maintain motivation in your efforts.

We are all motivated and inspired by different forces. Motivation is important in enhancing your health. Motivation is driven by desire and if you have a desire to enhance your health then you will most likely obtain the type of health that you are aiming for.
