How to be motivated to be healthier
Being motivated to do anything can be hard to do. Motivation is a behavior and you have to want to choose to do it. Everyone can list a thousand reasons as to why it is important to be and stay healthy. But, how do you get yourself to stay motivated to do it?
The best way to stay motivated to do anything is to set little goals for yourself along the way to the big goal. It is the same with staying motivated to be healthy. If your goal is to lose weight, then it will be important that you set little weight loss goals while heading toward the total big number. When having a goal of weight loss, using loss of pounds to keep motivated might not always be such a great idea. If you are working out with weights or if you just have a bad eating week, the scale can really put a damper on your motivation. A better way to keep little goals for yourself may be to say that you will walk twenty minutes everyday or increase your reps by so much. This way, it is a motivational goal that you are a little more in control of. To keep motivated, you need to keep excited and feel passionate about what you are doing and making these little goals is a good way to do that.

To keep motivated you have to keep focused. You need to put reminders around you at all times that help you focus on what your goals are. These reminders can be pictures of things you want to buy when you make your goal or putting little post it notes of positive sayings around you. Whatever you may use it is important that it is a quick mental reminder to stay focused and keep you motivated on your big picture.
Staying positive is the best way to stay motivated. No matter how tough things may get when you are on the road to becoming healthier, you cannot talk negatively to yourself. If you didn't make your little goal for the week then you just need to pick yourself up and try again for the next week. Thinking positive and talking positive to yourself will only help you on your accomplishments of your goals.
Lastly, one of the best ways to stay motivated to becoming healthier is to not do it alone. The more people you get involved with the process of becoming healthy, the better for you and them. Friends and family are the best support when trying to stay motivated. They can exercise with you, talk with you when you are down, and most of all keep you accountable to yourself. Everyone can stand to be healthier, no one is perfect. Even if you feel that you may have more weight to lose than someone else, you need to keep focused on yourself and what your goals are. It is not a competition with someone else; it is an accomplishment for you to have with yourself.
When staying motivated to become healthier you may find it more difficult to have the energy that you want. Maybe you are just fine mentally, but physically you cannot get yourself going. A few ways to keep yourself physically motivated are getting enough rest, eating and drinking water, healthy foods and energy drinks, and using music or friends to help you get going. Listening to music can get your energy going and exercising with friends makes you "have" to go exercise.
Writing down reasons you want to become healthier and listing your individual goals is a good way to remind yourself of what your motivation is everyday. Seeing it written and knowing what you are working for is a sure way to succeed in your goals.
