How to be motivated to get to bed early

Being motivated to go to bed early can be very difficult. No matter what you are trying to make yourself motivated to do, it has to come within you. You have to have a desire or some kind of driving force within you to want to accomplish your goal of going to bed early.

Obviously sleep is very important, but for some reason a lot of us don't make it a priority. Getting enough sleep affects your health and attitude just as much as eating healthy and exercising does. When trying to become motivated the best thing to do is make a list of things that are important to you and goals you want to accomplish. If your goal is to get to bed early then you should right down why. What is the reason you want to get to bed early? What short term benefits come out of it? What long term benefits? If you have something that you can look at on a daily basis to remind you of why you are going to bed early, it will be easier for you to keep motivated to do it.

When making your list of reasons why you want to go to bed early, you really should list all of the benefits that go along with getting up early in the morning. You can start your whole day on a better note by getting up earlier. This time can be spent exercising, meditating, or just relaxing with coffee and a newspaper. The less rushed you are in the morning; the better the rest of your day will go. The best way to get up early in the morning is to go to bed early at night so you can feel fresh and rested to begin your day.

One of the most important factors when trying to stay motivated is thinking positively. If you go to bed and lay there thinking "I can't sleep" or "Why am I laying here when I know I won't fall asleep?" then you probably won't accomplish getting to sleep. You have to talk to yourself positively and just clear your mind of all negative thoughts. Part of staying motivated is setting little goals along the way of your bigger goal. Let's say your goal is to go to bed by 10pm. You usually go to sleep around midnight. Well, start yourself off by setting little goals of maybe just 15 min earlier for a few nights at 11:45 and then 15 min. more a few days later and so on until you make it down to 10 o'clock. By setting and accomplishing these littler goals, it will keep you motivated to keep going until you make your ultimate goal of 10 pm.

Nothing will keep you motivated like seeing results of what you are accomplishing. The more you work toward your goal and see what improvements are coming from it, the more motivation you will feel to keep going. Going to bed early will probably make you feel better and more refreshed. Make notes of this on your list so you can see what is happening step by step and can easily remember the benefits.

Motivation comes from within and only you can decide what is important to you and what isn't. Once you start towards your goal of getting to bed early, hopefully it will soon start to become a habit. Forming habits goes along with staying motivated. The more you do something, the more it becomes a habit. Eventually, after enough time, you will not need motivation to go to bed early. It will just be something that your body has become used to and learned to depend on.
