How to become more physically fit through intrinsic motivation


You will never get physically fit unless you are intrinsically motivated. If you are not motivated from within, you will find a hundred and one excuses not to get fit physically. You will be too tired, you will go later, you ate too much, you drank too much, you do not have enough time, you this, you that, the list of excuses goes on.

You can become more physically fit if you are intrinsically motivated. The following are steps for how to become more physically fit through intrinsic motivation:


1. Pull out your skinny pants. You can't get intrinsically motivated without something to work for. If you look great without being physically fit, it is that much harder to get motivated. But, if you don't, use it as a motivating factor to get motivated.

2. Ask yourself how you are feeling. Most people do not get to the point where they want to get physically fit until they are too late. They are unhealthy, start feeling awful, and it is not until then that they start getting motivated to work out. So, when you start feeling like you do not have enough energy, or that you wish you could have a few more days where you feel good, that is when the intrinsic motivation needs to start kicking in.

3. Get up early. When you get up early and get started, it becomes a much easier choice to get motivated. If the day is half gone and you still have not done anything on your to-do list, especially not your work out, you will never get it done. When you get up early, you get more intrinsically motivated. Why? Because it is more natural to work hard in the mornings and rest in the evenings. So, if you want to be physically fit, get up early.

4. Make it a priority. If you can make intrinsic motivation a priority and when you do that, you will be more inclined to get physically fit. If you want to be physically fit, make sure that you have made it a priority. Setting it as a priority to get physically fit will motivate you intrinsically. There is just something about setting goals and priorities, and one of those things is being able to see that you have a goal, and where it should fall on your list. So write it down.

5. Learn to love it! If you want intrinsic motivation to be physically fit, you have to fake it until you make it. If you fake like you love working out, and do it regularly, pretty soon your insides will kick in and you really will love it. You will find that you love how it makes you feel, you love using it as an outlet for stress, and you will love it. This will make it more and more a part of who you are, and you will be fit as a fiddle.

Intrinsic motivation means being motivated from within to do that which you need to do. If you want to be physically fit, start with yourself, look inside, what is it you want in life? What do you feel when you work out? Why do you want to be physically fit? When you answer these questions honestly, you find reason to stop making excuses about how tired you are, or how much you have to do, and you start doing what you wanted to be motivated to do.
