How to determine your normal distractions so you can learn to avoid them

It is difficult to stay motivated when you are stressed out. Stress messes with your body and your psyche, and will make you less motivated to do even the simplest of tasks, like get out of bed in the morning, etc. So, it is important to learn how to detect and eliminate unnecessary stress. There is always a little bit of stress in your life, but unnecessary stress is the nemesis to being motivated and effective in your life.

How to detect unnecessary stress:
1. First you will want to determine what stress you have in your life period. this may be work, family, or even church. What areas of your life are often causing you to be stressed? It is natural to have family related stress, etc. If you can't come up with the things that stress you out, then you should ask the other people in your life. Most of the time your spouse, best friends, and possibly even your neighbors will know what things stress you out the most. It can be hard to recognize those things in yourself, but others may see it readily. So, ask around, see what other people think causes you to get stressed.
2. Next you want to specify the stresses, for example, being on time to church, keeping your home clean and your family fed, and staying effective at work.

3. Once you specify what is causing your stress, you will want to look at which things you can control. For example, it is in your power to be on time to church or not, but being late to church because there is a snow storm or unexpected traffic is not in your control. So, if the stress is caused by something outside of your control, then that makes it unnecessary stress.
Ok, so now you have detected your unnecessary stress. You may want to stress about making your house payment because it means shelter or not for you family, and you are in control of whether or not you earn enough to pay it, but stressing out about the price of gas does not make sense because it does not matter what you do, you can't change it.

Detecting unnecessary stress is easy, but eliminating it can be really difficult. Try to following to eliminate unnecessary stress:
1. The first thing you will want to do is remind yourself that the events are outside of your control, so stressing about them is a waste of energy and bad for your health.
2. Plan ahead better. If you learn to plan better, you will automatically eliminate some of your stress. How? Well think of it this way, if you leave for church early, then no matter what kind of weather you have, or what kind of traffic there is, you will still be on time, so you won't be as stressed.
3. Take a stress reduction class. Some people naturally have a tendency to stress out unnecessarily, and this is something that has been going on for so many years that in order to eliminate this type of stress they would need some help. You can get this help through classes, therapy, or counseling.

It is important to recognize and work to eliminate unnecessary stresses in your life. If you can do that you will be healthier and happier. When you detect and eliminated unnecessary stresses you are more productive at work, and you are more effective at relaxing and playing.
