How to get motivated to increase your spiritual side

Do you feel like there is something missing in your life? Do you want to increase your spiritual side, but don't feel motivated enough to do anything about it? There are a couple of ways that you can get motivated to increase your spiritual side. Here are a couple of tips on how to get motivated:

1) Be specific in what you want to do, and then make goals: There are many ways that you can increase your spiritual side, and you need to be specific in exactly how you want to achieve this spiritual increase. For example, you could desire to understand spiritual writings better, to have a better relationship with a spiritual deity (e.g. God), a better understanding of the nature of a spiritual deity. You might want to go to church or a synagogue more frequently, or you might want to figure out what religion or spiritual path you would like to follow. Having a specific idea in mind will help you then to create GOALS. These goals will keep you motivated and "on task," as you work to achieve your specific spiritual aim. It is a good idea to make very specific, clear goals, and to then write them down. Then, place these goals in a place where you can see them every day (such as a refrigerator, mirror, or night stand).

2) Read different material and stories relating to your goal: By reading different spiritual material and stories, you can continually motivate yourself to achieve your specific goals. Reading material will keep your goal and objectives at the forefront of your mind, so that you will be constantly thinking and reflecting about how you are going to achieve your goal. Because increasing your spiritual side is often an inward, reflective process, it is a good idea to get motivation through reading material - you can't help but reflect and think about what you are reading over! In addition, reading personal "success" stories can also help you to feel better motivated to increase your spiritual side, because you feel like your goal is attainable and easy. Plus, reading "success" stories can also give you role-models to look-up to and follow!

3) Find a spiritual leader, mentor, or friend for help: Increasing your spiritual side can be a difficult task, and sometimes it's good to have an extra person helping you out! Finding a spiritual leader or a mentor for added help is a great way for you to get extra motivation to increase your spiritual side! Although these people can't increase your spiritual side for you, they can offer counsel and advice. They also can share personal stories with you about how they were able to increase their spiritual side. By constantly meeting with them and discussing your plans with them, these people will be able to help you constantly think and focus on your spiritual goals! This is a great way to further motivate you to be spiritually-focused! Some different people you could ask for advice or help are: a pastor, bishop, rabbi, nun, monk, Sunday School teacher, fellow congregation member, or a missionary.

4) Think about the benefits of an increased spirituality: It is easy to get swept up into the business of the world and forget about your spiritual goals. A great way to continually stay motivated to increase your spiritual side is to think often about the benefits of a higher spiritual level. These benefits can come in different forms, but many people find inner peace when they achieve the increased spirituality they desire. Thinking about the benefits that you will achieve will help you stay motivated to increase your spiritual side!
