How to handle negativity

There are many things that negativity can do. It can make one feel bad about themselves or others that they are around. Negativity can bring down ones self esteem; negativity can even bring down your mood. Here are some tips on how to handle negativity.

The first tip on how to handle negativity is to try to look for the good. Even if there is not a whole lot of good to point out make sure to look for it. Looking for the positive in a situation will make the situation a lot better than pointing out the negative. You know the saying when you have lemons make lemonade.


The second tip on how to handle negativity is to try not to go along with it. For example say that there is some one that is always talking negatively about everyone in the office. Make sure not to say anything negative about any one when around this person. The next thing you might notice is that people might be thinking that you are saying negative things about other people too. Talking negative about other people will make people not want to be around you. People want to be around people that lift them up and make them feel good. So if some one is talking negatively about others make sure to point out the positive this will help put a handle on the negativity.

The third tip on how to handle negativity is to not hang out with people that are negative. People that are negative will bring you down. People that are negative will find something wrong with anything they can no matter if there is something really wrong with it or not. This will make you feel more self conscious because you will always be worried about what they are thinking about you and in return will bring you down and your self esteem with it. The best way to handle the negativity in these kinds of people is to stay away from them as much as possible. Sometimes you might think that if you hang out with them you might be able to help them change. But it usually ends up working out the other way and they end up changing you and making you more negative.

The fourth tip on how to handle negativity is to ignore it. If someone is being negative don't respond or even acknowledge that something negative has been said. If you must make a comment make sure that it is one that is positive. If you continue to run into the same person always being negative try confronting them. Sometimes when you confront people it will make them take a step back and actually realize how they are always being negative. This might help them to try harder to be less negative and more positive.

The fifth tip on how to handle negativity is to try to be more positive in you. Maybe you don't recognize that you are negative. One way to handle negativity is by making sure that if you do say something negative that you think of a couple things that are positive about the same situation. This will help you to start thinking more positive things and less negative things.

All of these are tips on how to handle negativity. Negativity can be found in just about every place imaginable from school to work and even at home. Make sure to handle negativity in a good way so you can be happier and enjoy life in a more positive way.
