Live in the moment
Many times when life tends to get hectic and crazy you are focusing on what you have to do next. You're always on the go and sometimes can forget to live in the moment of your life. There are so many small details you miss when you get caught up in the hustle and bustle of things. Before you know it you're 80 years old and you have nothing to show for it except a crazy life. Take time to live in the moment and appreciate what's right in front of you.
Get some R&R
If you're not familiar with the term "R&R" it means rest and relaxation. If you want to slow your life down and simplify things then take time out for yourself to rest your mind and your body. Read a good book, go to the spa, or take a walk through the park. Do something that relaxes you. Living the better life means doing things that you enjoy doing, as well as getting enough rest for your body. If all you do is work, work, work, then you're going to burn out sooner or later; probably sooner.
Set some goals and pursue them
The absence of goals in our lives and the inability to pursue something leaves us feeling like we're ineffective; like we're not working towards something better. You can set goals for relationships, work, and family. Goals can make the difference between a chaotic, ineffective life, to a simple better one.
Make lists
One of the easiest ways to simplify your life is to make some "to do" lists. If you think you can remember to do everything on your plate every day of the week you're definitely going to drive yourself crazy. Not only that, you'll begin to get down on yourself when you start forgetting to do things because you start letting other people down. Do yourself a favor; buy a pad of paper and make a list of things you need to get done. You can categorize them into "immediate, can wait, not necessary." Focus on those things that are in your immediate to do list and then once you've taken care of those, move on to the others. It can be very satisfying crossing off things you have to do in one day.
Don't be lazy
Some people think that a simpler, better life means that you get to be lazy and lounge around your house all day doing nothing. What they don't understand is that this type of behavior will lead to more chaos. Keep up on your housework daily. Don't let things pile up so high that it takes you three days just to catch up to yourself. The same goes for work and school projects. Don't procrastinate until the last minute. Stay on your toes; that way you have less to worry about each day.
Well there you have it. Some simple suggestions on how to have a simpler, better life. Take time to "smell the roses" so that life doesn't pass you by.
