How to improve your self image through motivation
The link between motivation and self image is real. If you are an unmotivated person who just sits around doing nothing all day it is going to be pretty difficult to feel good about yourself. Motivation leads to action, and it is through action that we see character and discover our true selves. The following is a look at how motivation helps you to improve your self image, and thus become a happier, more confident, and more successful person. It is important to get motivated, here is why:
Let's look at some examples of the cause and effect of getting motivated, and how that leads to a better self image. Think of this scenario. You feel awful, you just rolled out of bed. You have not brushed your teeth. You are wearing baggy sweats with stains and tears. Now compare your self image with this you. You get a new hair cut or look, shower, get all dressed up in nice new, name brand clothes, you have a great tan, and a great car. Ok, picture yourself as both of these people and image that you look in the mirror. It is true, how you look, and how you feel impacts your confidence and self image, and this is just one little example. So, what does motivation have to do with all of this? Think about this.

If you are motivated to work out what happens? Well, you start to lose the fat, your muscles tighten, your legs take on better shape, you feel better, you look better. So, now, who are you when you look in the mirror? The frumple or the stud? Exactly. Getting motivated to work out can mean you look better and feel better which inevitably leads to a higher sense of self worth.
If you are motivated at work what happens? You suddenly become more productive. You are happier, nicer to people around you. You make more friends, you get more clients, and eventually you get a raise or promotion. Now, let's face it, if you were given a raise because of your outstanding performance, not because of how long you have been on the job, would you feel like the frumple or the stud? Exactly. Once again motivation has lead to the higher feelings of self worth. Your self image improves as a direct effect of being motivated.
If you are motivated in relationships what happens? Well usually if it is a romantic relationship the results look something like this: Less fights, more love, better intimacy. In friendships you end up getting closer, having more fun together, etc. So, if your spouse were to consider you a better lover, and if you felt fulfillment and joy in your relationships with others, how would your self image be? Probably pretty good huh? People who feel loved have a better sense of self worth. If you are motivated to work on your relationships you will give, and receive, more love.
If you are motivated to learn more or do a better job learning, what happens? Usually you become smarter, maybe you get a degree quickly, get a really high GPA, etc. When people think you are smart, and your grades are high, you can't help but feel good about yourself.
As you can see, if you want to improve your self image through motivation you just have to determine what areas of your life are lacking, why is your self image suffering, and choose to get motivated in the areas that will affect it most.
