Introduction

Do you know someone who inspires you? Someone who always has the right thing to say at the right time? Do you wish that you could be an inspirational friend for someone else? I think that we all want to be able to provide those we care about with the hope, love, and motivation that they need. But the ability to inspire others is not something that most people work to attain; it comes naturally to a select few. Fortunately, there are ways that you can improve your chances of inspiring others and at the same time, you can do wonders to improving your own life in the process.

How to inspire others

There is nothing better than being able to provide the right words of solace to someone who needs it. But those words and emotions have to come from somewhere. Though it is unlikely that you will become an inspiring person overnight, there are some simple ways that you can inspire those around you to be their best as you try to be yours.

  • Practice what you preach

There is no way that you will inspire someone to be a certain way or to do a certain thing if you yourself do not practice what you preach. No one is going to come to you looking for the inspiration to be more kind to others if you are an unkind person. Actions speak louder than words and people are most likely going to watch what you are doing before they listen to what you say. Live your life so that it can be a life worth emulating.

  • Care

There is a saying that goes, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." This saying couldn't be more dead on. In order to inspire someone you need to care about that person. Take an interest in their life and ask questions with a genuine interest in what is being said and how you can help the other person. Be there in hard times and through happy times.

  • Your experiences and their experience

Sometimes relaying a personal experience can really make the advice you are giving or the inspiration that you are trying to instill feel more real. The life experiences of one individual can inspire and uplift many different people. Don't be afraid to share these experiences and to relate how you feel your personal experience relates to the individual you hope to inspire. Tell stories and share facts. Some of the greatest lessons ever taught were taught through the use of a parable. New stories of inspiration can be spun with the threads of these shared experiences.

  • Work on your communication skills

You could be the most inspirational person in the world and not be able to share what you have to offer unless you find a way to effectively communicate your thoughts. We can all be inspirational as we all have something value to contribute in this life. Improve your ability to inspire through investing in the development of your communication skills. Ordinary courses in reading, writing, and language can be very helpful.

  • Help others to see their possibilities

Inspiring others does not necessarily mean that you should always be telling others exactly what they want to hear. Sometimes tough love is needed and a challenge should be presented. Perhaps you can think of a time when someone challenged you to be the best you could be, and you were better for having been pushed a little. Inspire others to be extraordinary and provide encouragement along the way.
