Everyone wants to have a happy life. But with the daily stresses of work, money, family, and more, it can seem difficult to achieve.

But there are many things you can do to be happy. The following are some tips for how to live a happier life:

Develop hobbies and interests.
Part of having a happier life is having a well-rounded life. When you have many hobbies and you allow yourself time to pursue new interests, you will be happier. So start pursuing those things that you have always wanted to try, whether it's learning how to play tennis, plant a garden, golf, or speak a new language. Look for continuing education classes at your local college, or join a club or group.

Prioritize.
Take some time to think of what's really important in life. There is a saying that goes, "No man, while on his deathbed, says, 'I wish I had spent more time at work.'" Step back and see what is taking up the most of your time. If it's work, try and cut back your hours as much as possible. Sure it's nice to have nice things, and in some cases you have to work hard to make ends meet, but it's important to make time in life for things that really matter, such as family and friends.

Don't compare yourself to others.
It's easy to become unhappy and get down on yourself when you compare yourself to others, so you should avoid this. You don't really know what their life is like, so it's hard to make an accurate comparison anyway. No good can come from comparing, so focus on you and be happy for your achievements.

Take time for yourself.
It's hard to be happy when you never have a moment to yourself. That's why it's so important to set aside some time each day just for you, whether it's time for exercise, taking an uninterrupted bubble bath, read a book, or just sit and think. This is necessary to clear your head and recharge your batteries, and will make you happier overall.

Surround yourself with positive people.
The people you surround yourself with will have a direct effect on your overall mood. Make it a point to surround yourself with happy, positive people. You will find that their optimism and encouragement will in turn make you happier as well. At the same time, be positive and encouraging to other people. As you lift others, you will find that it has the effect on you.

Be thankful for what you have.
Whether it's a good job, a healthy family, or a home, take time to reflect on what you have and be grateful for it. There are many people in the world who would love to have what you have.

Get help if you need it.
If you find that you're not happy no matter what you do, there's a chance you could be depressed or have other problems that require more than just a positive outlook on life. If you feel down or unhappy constantly, talk to a counselor or doctor about what you can do to feel happier.

Oftentimes, living a happier life is just a matter of changing perspectives and taking time to enjoy what you have. These are just a few things you can do to live a happier life.
