Setting and accomplishing goals can take a lot of time, hard work, and can sometimes be frustrating when you fall short. In every aspect of our lives we all have goals and accomplishments we want to achieve. Everyone wants their life to be a little better. Tip #1: Set realistic goals
Sometimes we go a little overboard when we start setting goals for ourselves. It's not that we're incapable of meeting the goal; it's that sometimes the goal is to much for a starter. You have to be realistic about what your capabilities are. If you never work out a day in your life and set a goal for yourself to run a 10K race you're going to be sorely disappointed. Whether you're training for a marathon, or you want a promotion at work, you need to start with little steps first and then work your way up to the big goals.
Tip #2: Set specific goals
If you're going to be successful in life you have to be specific about what you want out of it. If you want to lose weight don't just settle for losing some weight. How much weight do you want to lose? How are you going to lose the weight? What happens when you reach your final goal? The details are important when it comes to goal setting so don't forget about them. The more specific you can be, the less frustrated you will get as you work towards your goal
Tip #3: Be committed
Goals that get reached are ones that are firm, well defined, and ones that the individual is truly committed to. Trying to reach goals without being committed can be disappointing and extremely frustrating. Ask yourself why you wan to achieve that goal. What will it do for you? Why is it important to you? If you're struggling to make a strong commitment to seeing it through to the end, then try to re-think your goal and change it so that you are committed.
Tip #4: Know when to say no
Another reason many people don't accomplish the goals they set for themselves is because they don't know when to say no to other people. Goals generally seem to take the back burner to everything else we have going on and everything else that others have going on. This is one lesson to learn that will help you not get so frustrated about not reaching goals you set for yourself. You have to learn how to say no to people if it's interfering with what your goals are and especially if it's derailing your efforts to accomplish your goal.
Tip #5: Stay positive
Falling short of goals you set can be one of the most disappointing and frustrating things on the earth, but you have to stay positive. If it looks like you might not reach the goal you have set don't quit. Stop and re-vamp the goal you've made; change it so that it becomes realistic and more attainable.
It's hard not to get frustrated when we fall short of goals, however with a positive attitude, commitment, and some realistic goals you should be closer to accomplishing everything you set out to do.
