How to set motivational goals that equal success

If you want to be successful at what you are doing, no matter what it is, you have to stay motivated to work hard. Success is also contingent upon setting goals and taking steps that lead you there. So, how can you set motivational goals that equal success?

You can set motivational goals that equal success by first determining what success means to you. You have to want something in order to be motivated to work toward getting it. So, does success mean self assurance, pride, money, fame, etc.? You need to determine what success is going to mean, and how much that affects you. This is an important part of setting a motivational goal because it is why you set a goal. A goal is not real if it is for someone else. If you want to achieve success in order to please your wife, but you could care less about it, then it will be a long hard road.

Next, in order to set motivational goals that equal success, you need to chart out the steps to getting to success. So, if you need to get however many new clients, sell however many products, and keep your costs at a minimal, then make those your steps. Once you have the steps to success established you will be much more motivated to achieve it because you see that through a series of events it is possible, not just some pipe dream.

Next, you are going to make goals that correspond with each of your steps. If you want your goals to be motivations goals that equal success, then they need to be realistic and reachable, but they also need to be challenging. People will rise to a challenge if they do not think it is too far out of their grasp. So, be smart. For example, don't set a goal to sell a million products in a week if you only have fifteen customers and no marketing plan in force. This will just make you disappointed, and the inability to achieve set goals will act as the opposite of a motivator. You will feel depressed and unhappy, and your will to work will lessen. Thus, your chances of success lessen proportionately.

So, once you know that they are realistic goals, and that they go along with the steps you must take for success, it is time to make those motivational goals become realities. You will need to set up a game plan, determine how you will accomplish each goal. You will want to be organized down to the very last detail. If you need a minimum of 10 whatever in a day, then do 12 so that the next day if you fall short you are not behind. Details change, but in order to stay motivated to achieve success you need to know what to do to get there, going at success blindly will accomplish nothing. So, sit down with your team, spouse, coach, or whomever your support staff is for achieving your goals, and have them help you to hash out a realistic, complete game plan with dates, quantities, and incentives to make these motivational goals become a reality.

So, how do you set a motivational goal that will equal success? You set it thoughtfully, you determine what needs to be done to be successful, and set goals in accordance with each step on the ladder to that success.
