To determine if year-round school is right for you, you should consider your self and your own schedule, as well as your child. While the schedule may be trickier for you to handle, the benefits for your child may be worth the sacrifice. If year-round school is something that could help your child and help their education, it is definitely something you should consider.
In many year-round schools they have seen an increase in the children's abilities. There has been an increase in test scores as well as overall academics. Because of the consistency the children tend to remember what they learn. When everything is crammed into nine months and then you have three months off, you forget everything you crammed for. But if you take a slower pace to learn and you are consistent with it rather then cramming, you remember what you learn and you learn more.
Many schools will only offer year-round school to struggling students. In each school, the students have improved. If you have a child that is struggling in school putting them into year-round school could be a great help for them. Because their education is so important, putting them in year-round school would be a great idea, even if it means that you need to sacrifice some time or something else in order to get your child the education that will help them most.
If you have a lot of kids, year-round school could be a struggle because all your children would be on different schedules. If your children were all on different schedules that would mean that your schedule would be hectic. If your children are doing fine in normal school and you do not think putting them in year-round school is worth it, you do not need to. If year-round school would not make that much of a difference in their education because they are doing just fine where they are, year-round school may not be the thing for you and your children.
If you are wondering if year-round school is right for you, there are only two main things to consider: 1) How much would it help your child, and 2) Could you handle the hectic schedule. If you can handle the schedule and you believe year-round school would be of great benefit to your child, it would be a definite yes for you and your children to become part of the program.
