It is true that even creative people have times where it is hard to motivate themselves to continue to think outside the box. Challenge yourself

Many times all that it takes to motivate the creativity in you is a little bit of a challenge. Come up with a project or even a real-world goal that you would like to accomplish, but do so in a way that you have never done before. Step outside of your comfort zone. When trying everything else doesn't work try something you would not have considered doing before. You may have strengths that you never realized existed. Another suggestion for challenging your way of thinking to find renewed motivation is to do the opposite of what your normal thinking or problem solving process mandates. If you are person who always has a plan, try being spontaneous. Sometimes just breaking out of your usual routine is enough to awaken your creative side.
Change your point of view
Sometimes we get so set in our ways that we lose our ability to see things objectively. Try to look at a project you may be struggling with in a way that you never had before. Sometimes the most obvious answers are the best ones but these answers can become lost in a lengthy or tedious process. Take a step back and see things from a fresh perspective. If you are considered an expert in your field, consider looking at a task the same way a rookie employee would. Doing this is a great way to renew your motivation to accomplish a goal that you may have thought was impossible.
Try to find the motivation within
When you are attempting to do something outside of the box or in a way that you have never done before, it can be challenging to determine exactly what your reward is. In order to find the reward that meets the need of any motivational situation, it is a good idea to attempt to be more self motivated or intrinsically motivated. This means that you find motivation from within yourself rather than from other material sources. Many times there are creative feats that you can have the satisfaction of accomplishing, but that others may never really appreciate or acknowledge. There is a depth of character that comes from being able to do something for yourself.
Have fun!
Motivation to do anything should be fun, or at least satisfying, or there is really no reason to do it at all. This point is especially true when it comes to situations involving creativity. It is very difficult to be creative when you have no inspiration that you find enjoyable. Think of the most creative person that you know; chances are that the individual you have in mind is also a fun person to be around. Motivation to do something that you don't want to do or don't perceive as enjoyable will always be difficult to find. On the other hand, if you can create goals for yourself that you can get excited about, have fun with, and even look forward to accomplishing; your rate of success is going to be much higher.
Motivating your creative side is all about approaching the norm with a new perspective and a new attitude. Finding creative inspiration is not reserved for the gifted few, it is available to anyone motivated enough to seek it out.
