A better job
Climbing the corporate ladder can mean a better job. A better job can bring more happiness to the individual who has the job, as well as more money, and more job security. A better job can also help a person build a better resume.
More money
Climbing up the corporate ladder also means getting more money. Having a larger salary and perhaps even larger bonuses as well can really motivate someone to climb the corporate ladder. More money can mean more security, nicer things, and more fun.
When a person is getting a bigger salary for putting in a similar, or a few more, hours than they were at their previous position, that time and effort can make climbing the corporate ladder worth it. A lot of people like to climb the corporate ladder to increase their salary and to get the bigger bonuses.
More job security
Having more job security is a great motivation to climb the corporate ladder. In this unsure economy, just about everybody desires to have more job security. Most people would prefer working a little bit harder to get a better, more secure job to being out of work and working really hard to search for a way to provide for themselves and their family.
Many of the jobs that are higher up in the corporate ladder are more secure than the jobs that are on a lower rung of the corporate ladder. It is comforting for a person to know that they will have a job and that they do not have to stress too much about whether or not they will be able to afford their house and car payments.
Building a better resume
As a person climbs the corporate ladder and gets a better job, they will be building their resume. This is a great motivation for someone to climb the corporate ladder because if they decide to look for a different job, or if for some reason they do lose their current job, they will have a better resume with which to get their new job. Also, as someone climbs the corporate ladder, they may be sought out by other companies who may offer them more money or a better and more secure position with them.
You deserve it
Most people who have a good job have worked very hard to get where they are. They have suffered through hours of undergrad and perhaps graduate classes, taken finals, done internships for little or no money, they have volunteered their time to get experience and enhance their resume, they have searched and applied to many jobs, gone to many interviews, they have stayed with a certain company or business for years, and given that company much of their time and energy. After doing all of this a person deserves to move up and they should climb the corporate ladder.
