Overcoming exercise excuses
Over 25% of Americans do not live an active lifestyle. We all have some type of excuse as to why we can't exercise. Here are some tips on how to overcome exercise excuses:

I don't have time
This is one of the most common excuses. Everyone has time; it is just a matter of how you prioritize it. Try multi-tasking if you just can't seem to find the time to make exercise part of your daily regime. If you have a favorite television show, do some lunges and crunches while you watch it. While you are at work, find some time to exercise. Go for a walk on your lunch break. How about replacing your chair with an exercise ball? Exercising at work is a great way to get some work done and to get in a short workout.
Nothing Works
If you have fallen for some of the past exercise gimmicks, its time to stop watching infomercials and find an exercise routine that is tailored to your body. Take a look at your past mistakes and evaluate where you went wrong. Perhaps you tried to do too much too soon. Pace yourself with exercising, it takes about 6 months for the body to adjust to an exercise routine. Start with small goals and slowly work your way up to large goals. Be careful about doing activities that aren't right for your body. Just because you read about it in a magazine doesn't mean it works for everyone.
I can't afford the equipment or a gym membership
Many people use the excuse that exercising is too expensive. However, you didn't need to spend $30 a month when you were 10 years-old. Go back to your youth and start doing exercises that you enjoyed back then. A jump rope can be purchased for less than $10 and it provides you with a great aerobic exercise. If some of your friends have passes to the gym, sign-up for a buddy pass. Most gyms will allow you to come for 2 weeks for free. This gives you a great opportunity to test the club to see if you even like it before you commit to a gym contract. Use things in your home as exercise tools. If you have children, play a flying game with them and use them as your bench-press weights. How about using them as a leg press too? It's a fun way for you to spend quality time with your kids and you can use their weight to help you tone up your muscles.
I can't get motivated
There are millions of people that struggle with self-motivation to do a handful of things. Many people look at exercise as a necessary evil and they will procrastinate it as long as possible. If you struggle with motivation, set some small goals for yourself. You can set some small goals like taking the stairs over the elevator or you can park further away from the office building. Just changing the way you do your daily routines will help you get in a short amount of exercise that you need to improve your health. Make smarter food choices like salads over hamburgers and diet cola over regular soda. After changing your routine for 2 weeks, take a look at your health level. Do you find it easier to climb the stairs? Do you feel an increase in energy when you play with your children? Place the goals all over your home and office so you can be constantly reminded about the benefits of exercise. It helps to get a workout buddy to help you stay motivated about exercising on a daily basis.
