Peace Button

When someone pushes your buttons, it is hard to get back to a place where you are happy. Do you ever wish you could push the button for instant happiness rather than let someone else push the button for instant frustration? The button for instant happiness isn't really hard to find. It is the button for peace. Help yourself get motivated to be at peace in all situations and not let anyone else push your buttons with the suggestions below.
State Change

Anger, frustration, and other negative emotions are simply states of being. You can change your state of being from a negative state to a positive one with a state change. State changes happen all the time whether you are aware of them or not. You could go to bed happy and wake up angry or frustrated, get in your car upset and get out of it in a state of peace, sit down to a watch a movie sad and finish happy. This is because what is going on around us can have an affect on our state of being. The trick is to consciously choose your state of being rather than just react.
A conscious shift in your state of being is easy once you've had practice, but if you are just starting out you may need some tools to assist you. Tools could include calming or upbeat music, a funny book, a movie that can make you laugh, your favorite comedian on CD, love notes from your significant other, or anything else you know that helps you smile, be happy, and be at peace when you listen to, see, or interact with. Even what you choose to dream about can help you have a state change. When you are in a state of being that you don't like, use your tools to help you have a state change. The more often you choose to consciously change your state of being, the easier it will become and the less often you will need tools to help you achieve your purpose. Be motivated to be at peace in your life by having the tools on hand that will help you consciously affect a state change.
The Reminder
Once you know how to affect a state change for yourself, you may need a smaller tool to help you physically change your state of being. We'll call this the reminder. A reminder could be a rubber band around your wrist that you flick when you want to make a state change. It could be a stress ball you squeeze in your pocket. It could be a rock you rub. Whatever your reminder is, its main function is to remind you that you have the choice to change your state of being no matter what state you are in and that no one can push your buttons unless you give them permission. Carry your reminder with you wherever you go.
Make the Choice
The most important step in the process of getting motivated to have peace in every situation in your life is making the choice. Being at peace is a choice. Being happy is a choice. Letting someone push your buttons is a choice. Make the choice to stay at peace and use your tools to motivate you to do so.
