Put Your Best Face Forward

Do you ever find yourself in pajamas still when dinner time rolls around? Do you ask yourself what the point is of getting ready for the day if you aren't going anywhere? A lot of stay-at-home moms find themselves in this situation. They lack the motivation to get ready for the day when the only one who will see them is their child. When you aren't going anywhere or seeing anyone, how do you get motivated to get ready for the day? Here are some helpful tips to get you up and going, even when no one is looking.

Tip #1: Routine is everything.
Getting motivated to get ready for the day becomes obsolete when you get yourself into a routine. Routines are comfortable, so once they are established we manage to stay in them without thinking about it. Get into the habit of taking a shower right after you roll out of bed. A shower does two things. It refreshes you which gets your energy coursing and the blood running. When you are energized, it is much easier to be motivated. Step into a routine of finishing your own preparations for the day before you start anything else.
Tip #2: Theme song.
Your alarm clock does not have to be an annoying beep. In fact, if you are having trouble being motivated, your alarm is probably the biggest offender to depressing your spirit. Who wants to wake up to something that doesn't make them feel happy? Technology has come a long way from the beep that rattles your brain. Find a theme song, or a song that makes you happy and pumped up every time you hear it. Use your theme song as your alarm clock. Doing this will get you motivated to get up and going which in turn motivates you to get yourself pumped and ready for the day. Music effects everyone on a an emotional level and motivation happens when your emotional level is elevated. Elevate yourself and elevate your life by getting a theme song to wake you up in the morning.
Tip #3: Be spontaneous.
Spontaneity is motivating. If you can be spontaneous with your day, you'll know before-hand that you need to be ready for anything, which will motivate you to get ready for the day. If you think you won't go anywhere or see anyone, of course you won't be motivated to get ready for the day. However, if you are spontaneous, you might stay home, but then again, you might take your kid to the park, or the zoo, or to see dad at work. Think to yourself at the beginning of your day, "If I get ready now, what possible adventures could I have today?" Be spontaneous and you'll find you'll be motivated to get ready for your day.
Tip #4: Do it for yourself.
Guess what? Even if you stay at home and see no one all day, you'll still see yourself. Stay-at-home moms are often affected by depression, or lack of self-esteem, and it's no wonder. If you see yourself looking frumpy all day, you'll feel frumpy and that generally leads to dislike of one's self. If you aren't getting ready for anyone else, do it for yourself. Get motivated by telling yourself you want to feel better about yourself today. Get motivated by telling yourself you are the most important person to you and should treat yourself as such, because it is true. If you truly want to love yourself, you will be motivated to take care of yourself, part of which is getting yourself ready for the day.
