Write down what you want to accomplish. Write it down somewhere you can look at it and be reminded that you need to get it done. Try using a notepad that you can leave on your desk to see or use a white board where you look up and see it constantly. Seeing that tasks written down will want you to focus and get it done so you don't have to look at it anymore. And once you have that task done, you will feel accomplished and be able to move onto the next task. When you write down what you want to get done, put your least favorite on top of the least. Statistics show that when you put off doing the task you like till the end, the harder it will be for you to get motivated and get it done. If you put it on top of your list and do it first, it will keep you motivated to keep going with the tasks you have on your list. Once you do have things accomplish you will feel yourself satisfaction and a sense of pride and relief.
A lot of time at work we procrastinate on the certain projects that we don't want to do or don't understand to do. Asking for help on these projects will help you to not feel overwhelmed. You can also delegate your everyday tasks to another co-worker so you can take the time to work on the project you have putting off. A lot of time working on the projects you don't want to do will help you to become more confident in yourself to accomplish tasks you didn't think you could do. The longer you procrastinate at work and missing deadlines, the more consequences you could run into with your employer and your supervisor.
A motivational technique that is a great way to help you to end your procrastination is to reward yourself. We all procrastinate for either no wanting to complete a task, fear or laziness. Find something that you can reward yourself with when you do meet your goal. Making goals and rewarding yourself will keep your motivation high and your self confidence will grow. Your reward may be something small or could be something large. For example, you are working everyday to get to work on time. You have set a goal to make it to work on time for a month. If you meet that goal you are going to reward yourself with a mini shopping spree at any store you want. Once you meet that you set your next goal to get to work 15 minutes early for a month. Now that you are not only one time for work, but now you are arriving early and getting more tasks done. Make your reward a bigger and more intriguing. You can reward yourself with going on a long weekend vacation or maybe going skydiving. Be sure that any goal you make, you make your reward worth reaching. Once you start meeting your goals, you will notice that you are not procrastinating as much as you had in the past. You are doing this because your self confidence has improved and you feel better about yourself.
