Quick and easy tips to get you motivated

Don't you hate the feeling of knowing that the motivation to complete a task is slipping out of your hands? Are you frustrated that you work so hard and want to badly to reach your goal but you find you spend more effort motivating yourself, that you have no time left over for real progress? Fortunately there are a number of different quick and easy solutions that you can use to get and stay motivated.
Motivation is a personality trait and therefore it is going to take a fair amount of self censorship in order to make any kind of real changes. Listen to your own thought process, pay attention to the labels that you give to yourself, and really start your motivational changes from the inside. You will learn that by being overly critical of yourself, you are only digging a bigger hole and that means taking even more time to dig yourself out of your situation. Be opened to the following suggestions; try hard not to make excuses for why they might not work before you even give them a chance.

Be positive by smiling
As silly as it sounds, there is evidence to support that smiling releases endorphins that actually improve your mood. So greet each morning with a smile! First thing in the morning you can really set the stage for your day. Give yourself a pep-talk. Focus on what you need and want to do during the day and get your state of mind in a place where you want it to be. Begin your goal of being motivated throughout the day as you first wake up and you will give yourself a much better chance of carrying that motivation without you through the day.
Don't expect too much
Sometimes being overly aggressive with yourself is the wrong way to go. You could easily fizzle out your motivation before you even begin your day. Take it easy with your goals. Set small and attainable goals daily. Organize how you will spend your time each day. Take a break every once in a while and allow for small changes rather than dramatic ones. Sometimes a break from your goal can be more productive than pressing forward without any real motivation or direction. Your subconscious sometimes needs time to prepare for a new experience. Opportunities are often disguised by challenges.
Remember to reward
Whether you like to be rewarded extrinsically or intrinsically, take the time and make the effort to pat yourself on the back and give yourself your just desserts. Take some time each week and even each day, to review your achievements and to indulge yourself with something that you enjoy doing or having. Even the most self-motivated among us need some sort of reward. It is a good idea to even include your rewards system into the goal planning process. Not only does this ensure that you make time to reward yourself, but it also gives another good incentive to continue working towards your goal by maintaining your motivation and staying on track. If you are working on achieving a more long-term goal, one suggestion is to keep a journal of regular accomplishments. By doing this, it will be easier to be reminded of just how far you have come towards your goal and that accomplishment can be a reward in and of itself.
Hopefully these quick and easy tips will be enough to get you motivated to start and continue working towards the goals that you have made for yourself. As you take time to reflect on your own thought process, it will be easier to come up with more personalized tips to stay motivated.
