To help others run with your good ideas, you need to clearly lay them out. Write up a short presentation if it's for work. If it's for your home life, have the family sit down and talk to them about it together. Be sure to listen to their input as they can make your good idea even better. If your good idea is to do something big with the family like go on a cruise, you must be able to lay out when you can go and the steps you need to take in order to get there. As you go about completing the little steps, it will be much easier to focus on the end goal and to stay motivated to do so.
A common problem people have with their ideas is that they can see it clearly in their heads but they can't seem to figure out how to tell it to everyone else. Again, try to write down your ideas or look for examples of them online. Then, make your alterations and show them to your co-workers or to your family.
In order to clearly explain your idea to others, you need to full understand it yourself. Sit back and close your eyes. Take a couple of deep breaths and truly try to picture your idea. Then picture how you are going to make this idea become a reality. If you can see it and you can see the steps leading up to it, you will be able to explain it to everyone else.
The most important thing about having a good idea is learning how to share it with others. Many of us may think it's a great idea but we are scared to share it for fear of rejection and humiliation. Don't let other people's opinions block you from sharing a great idea. When Phil Knight was shown the Nike "swoosh" logo for the first time, he was not that impressed but he ran with the idea of the creator and now its one of the most popular logos of all time. Imagine what would have happened if the designer had not shown him the swoosh logo because of fear of rejection?
Speak up. Let everyone hear what you have to say and share your idea with them. If you come to the meeting prepared and with self-confidence, others will listen to your idea and they will believe in it or offer suggestions on how it can improve. Be gracious and listen to the ideas of other people. They are not trying to squash your idea, they actually want to make it better. If you are worried about the individuals you are planning to pitch your idea to, pitch it to a different group that you know will be accepting. For example, if you need to come up with a new marketing campaign for your business and you have a brilliant pitch line to use, say it to your family and close friends first to see their reactions. Even though they are not in advertising and marketing, they can at least give you some feedback that you can use before you pitch it to the big wigs at your office.
Every time you have a good idea, write it down. Don't let it go to waste with all the other thoughts that are jumbled in your head!
