1. Get more training. Sometimes people have low confidence in a task because they are unsure of their skills in that task. For example, if you're new to accompany and are assigned to work with computers for a project, but you're not familiar with the program being used, you may have low self confidence in your abilities to complete the task. So one way to get around this low confidence is to get more training. Take a course that will help you in your task, or find someone who can train you for the project. Attend a workshop, read an article, or have the master tutor you.
2. Improve your appearance. Many people get a confidence boost by improving their physical appearance. Buy a new outfit, get a new hairdo or a complete makeover. Loose those extra 20 pounds that have been clinging to you. Now, it's important that you recognize that physical appearance alone is not going to fix the whole problem. The confidence needs to come from within. But improving your appearance can definitely help the process of gaining unstoppable confidence.
3. Find a cheerleader. No, we're not talking about a cheerleader in a short skirt and pompoms. Many people find that they are more successful and confident when they have someone believing in them and urging them on when their confidence is low. Your cheerleader might be your spouse, sibling, a parent, or close friend.
4. Fake your confidence. You'll find that if you are not a confident person, it's going to be scary to pretend that you have a lot of confidence. But if you put yourself out there as a confident person (pretend or act like you are), eventually you'll begin to have the confidence you long for. Think of a confident person you want to emulate and act as much like him or her as you can until you feel better about yourself. Eventually your act will be true.
5. Give yourself a pep talk. Some people find it helpful to talk themselves into having confidence. For example, every morning when you get up, look in the mirror and say "I am an intelligent, confident person. I can do anything." Or find some other phrase that you prefer to repeat to yourself every day.
6. Develop a thick skin. Confident people don't let rejection or setbacks bother them. Yes, it's difficult to do. But you should try your best not to take things personally. Eventually you'll have more success than failures and it will be easier to deal with rejection.
7. Realize that everyone struggles with confidence. You may be sitting there feeling like a loser and thinking that no one else in your company/ family/ class, etc. feels like you. But you'd be wrong. There's hardly a person out there who doesn't question their own ability to do things or feels insecure about themselves. So you're not alone. Some people are just very good actors who can fake a lot of self confidence. Don't worry if you're struggling with confidence. So is everyone else!
