Self mastery tips

Self mastery is an admirable goal. By learning how to help yourself, you are more able to help others. By learning the skills to manage your mental, emotions, physical, and spiritual health, you will find success and happiness in life. The following are some tips for things you can do to achieve self mastery:

Tip one: Recognize you are not perfect. We are all a work in progress. You will never achieve self mastery if you do not think you have room for improvement. so, recognize that you can use improving, and work to do so.
Tip two: Appreciate yourself for who you are, what you are, and what you have accomplished so far. This does not mean you should be content as you are, as this would lead to a stagnant life. Progress is key, but it is also important to enjoy yourself and your life along the way.
Tip three: Appreciate your friends, family, and associates for who they are. Accept them, as they are, without expecting perfection, as this will lead to disappointment and resentment on both sides of the relationship. Part of self mastery is realizing that we can control our own lives, but not the lives of others. If we want to change others, we can't change ourselves. You can only change you, so focus on you, and be happy with others as they are.
Tip four: Focus your energy where it is most productive. You only have so much time, energy, and ability in any given day. Once you accept people, and situations, for what they are, you won't waste time and energy with frustration. This causes inner frustration, emotional turmoil, worries, and depression. This is not good if you are looking to master yourself. So, look for places where your actions can cause change, and focus those energies there.
Tip five: Understand that there is a domino effect to self mastery. Once you change yourself, through positive self mastery, the world around you will change for the better, without much effort on your part. So, instead of pushing hard against something that won't move, work on the things that will, and let other things change as a result. For example, if you are riddled with anxiety and self doubt, work on one or the other, and watch the other one fall into place as a result. For example, let's say you work on anxiety. Being less anxious, and mastering the ability to control your anxiety will improve your self-esteem. Work on your self-esteem and you have less to be anxious about.
Lastly, allow yourself some time. Self mastery is possible, but it does not occur overnight. You have been training yourself to think the way you have been thinking, and act the way you have been acting your whole life. If you want to change that, give yourself some time, and do not give up just because it is taking too long for your liking.
