Tip # 1 - Have a Desire
The best way to become self-motivated is to have the desire to do so. We all have our own desires, you just need to list them and figure out how you are going to achieve them. Having a desire means you not only need to list some of the things you want to accomplish, you need to have a connection to them. You also need to have the ability to believe in yourself and your ability to achieve some of your goals.

Tip # 2 - Take Action
Self-motivation comes from taking action. You cannot set a goal and expect to achieve it without doing something. It is important to take action on your goals. Create a list of your goals and how you plan to take action on them. Perhaps you need to enlist the help of another person in order to help you take action towards accomplishing your goals. Use a calendar to help yourself keep on track and to stay motivated about accomplishing your goals.

Tip# 3 - Believe in Yourself
A big part of self-motivation comes from your inner ability to truly believe in yourself. If you set a goal and you have a plan on how you are going to achieve it, tell yourself that you can do it. While it may be harder that you originally expected, believing in yourself is essential to becoming motivated to do anything.

Tip # 4 - Think Small
Quite often people lose self-motivation because they set unrealistic goals for themselves. If you are this type of personality, it is time to start setting some small goals. As time progresses and you are able to obtain the small goals easily, you can start setting bigger goals for yourself and move forward with them. When you can accomplish the small goals, you will actually find that they are rewarding and it can help to inspire you toward setting larger goals.

If you have a large goal to obtain, use the smaller goals to obtain it. For example, let's say you want to go back to college and get your Master's Degree. This is a pretty hard goal for a lot of people, especially when you factor in other things like family commitments, your job, and financial obligations. In order to achieve this goal, set some smaller ones on how you will go back to school. Start by saving money so you can afford to reduce your work hours and go back to school. Then, let your family know of your decision and work out a schedule with them. Once you accomplish these goals, head back to school and finish your degree! Surpassing little goals will help you stay motivated and keep the larger goal in mind.

Tip # 5 - Hard Work

Nothing is free and if you want to stay motivated, you are going to need to work at it. Start by reading positive quotes at the beginning of each day. This is a great way to help yourself get your day off to the right start. Recognize that everything you want to accomplish will take time. Getting discouraged will only force you to lose sight of the goals and it can become frustrating to find the motivation to start again. If you start to fall off the self-motivation highway, ask a friend to help pull you back on. Surrounding yourself with people that think positively and are uplifting will definitely help you stay motivated and positive about your goals.
