Tip one:
You need to find the right weight loss program for your needs. If you do not have the right weight loss program to follow you are not going to be able to stay motivated because the program is not working for you, which means you are not able to reach any of your weight loss goals. There are many different programs available to choose from, to find the best one for your needs you will need to do some research on each program to find one that fits for you.
Tip two:
You need to stay focused on your weight loss goals. One way to do that is to use a calendar to write down how much weight you want to lose total and then set realistic goals that you can achieve. For example if you want to lose 50 pounds, you can break that goal into 10 pounds each month for five months or you can make it even smaller than that. You want to set small goals at first so that once you achieve them you will gain motivation to continue on t meet the other goals. There is nothing like being rewarded with meeting your goals for a powerful motivating factor.
Tip three:
Write down all of your reasons that you have for losing the weight. Having all of the reasons listed will allow you to use the list to remind yourself why you wanted to lose the weight in the first place. If you place it in a central location, you will be able to read it each morning so that you remember why you are doing it. These reminders can be enough motivation to get through the day, so reading them each day can help keep you on track.
Tip four:
Once you have made it through one whole week of meeting your goals, meaning you did not cheat on your weight loss plan, you will need to do something to reward yourself. Rewarding yourself is going to give you positive reinforcement for reaching your goals, which is going to help make you feel better about yourself and your progress. When rewarding yourself you do not want to reward yourself with anything that is food related, instead treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure, or even buy yourself a new book or makeup. Do something small for yourself that is going to make yourself feel good for what you have achieved.
Tip five:
Take a before picture of yourself in something that shows what your body actually looks like, such as a swimsuit. After one month of reaching your goals, you will need to take another picture of yourself in the same outfit, repeat this process each month. Each month you will begin to see how baggy the outfit is becoming, which can give you the motivation you need to continue on losing weight. Do not throw the pictures away, but place them somewhere close by so that you can look at them when you start to feel discouraged.
Tip six:
Read about how others have succeeded in losing weight. These success stories might be enough to provide you with the motivation that you need to reach your goals because you will be able to see that it is possible to lose weight and keep it off.
