Steps for staying motivated to exercise

Staying motivated to exercise can be difficult, but there are some things that you can do. the following are steps for staying motivated to exercise:

Step one: Find a friend. It is a lot easier to stay motivated to exercise if you have someone to exercise with. A friend can keep you going. A friend that you exercise with will help you to get out of bed in the morning. Letting yourself down in easy, but letting someone else down is difficult. So, you would get to the gym, or to the running trail, or whatever, because someone else is counting on you being there as well. Everything is easier and more fun when you have someone to do it with. So, do not try and stay motivated to exercise alone.

Step two: Set up a plan. If you want to stay motivated to exercise, you have to actually make a plan to do so. So, decide now what it is you are going to do. Make your plan for exercising. If you want to exercise three days a week, then schedule that into your life. Make sure that you make a plan for what you are going to do, because then you will actually do it.

Step three: Make your reminders. If you want to stay motivated to exercise you have to make sure you stay motivated. So, post little reminders for yourself. Put your plans to exercise in your day planner. Put a note on your mirror in your bathroom so that you remember to exercise, so that you go to bed early enough to get up in time to exercise, etc. Make sure you put reminders where you are going to see them. Put a little note on your steering wheel so that when you drive to the gym you remember you how much exercising is important to you. You will want to remember how much you need to be motivated to exercise.

Step four: Reward your efforts. A great way to stay motivated to exercise is to reward your efforts. If you set a goal, like exercise every day of the week for a month, and you do it, then give yourself a reward. It can be something little like you get to sleep in for a weekend, or you go to the store and buy the shoes you want, or something. However, rewarding your efforts is huge and really key to staying motivated. So, make sure you do something to make yourself feel good about and get rewarded for all that hard work you did.

Step five: Take some time off. One way to stay motivated to exercise is to not over do it. If you exercise too much, you may start to get burnt out. So, change up the kind of exercise you do, and make sure you have at least one day off a week. You need to give your body a chance to relax and heal. If you do this, you will enjoy working out and exercising so much more.

If you follow the above five steps, chances are you will not only get motivated to exercise, but you will also stay motivated to exercise too. And that is a great thing to be. If you can be motivated to exercise then you will reap all of the benefits of the improved health, increased energy and vitality that comes with your life. So, make sure that you get and stay motivated to exercise.
