Steps to an inspiring environment

When you are in need of an inspiring environment, follow these steps:

Step one- Remove clutter
It is impossible to receive inspiration of any kind if you are in a room or space that is cluttered. Everything needs a place, and everything should look great. So, if you want to get an inspiring environment, go in, clean off every shelf, clean out every drawer, remove anything that is not necessary. Simplify. Simplicity is key to inspiration. If your environment is cluttered, your mind will be too, and you will find that inspiration is hard to detect. By removing clutter you allow your mind to relax, and in doing so, open it up to inspiration. If you need the stuff, but not necessarily in that room, move it, put it in storage, get boxes for it, and get it out of sight. The environment you are in should be clutter free, and easy to use.

Step two- Remove distraction
The next step to having an inspiring environment is getting rid of the things that distract you. It can be pretty difficult to get inspiration if you are constantly being pulled this way or that by distractions. So, determine what it is that distracts you, and remove it. If it is the television, put the television in another room. If it is a person, talk to them about not bothering you, or calling you, or whatever during a specific time. If it is a book, magazine, radio, etc. remove it. Put it elsewhere. Put it in a space where it can be the focus, or a place where distractions are welcome, not in your inspiring environment. If you need to get inspired to lose weight, then your distraction may be candy bars, so remove them, get them out of the house, have it be a big effort to get one. That is what removing distractions is all about.

Step three- Add inspiration
This is the fun part. If you want to have an inspiring environment you have to add inspiration. How do you do this? Well, that depends on what you are trying to get inspired to do. If you want inspiration to be a better cook, put cook books, art with beautiful depictions of fresh foods, etc. up in your kitchen. If you want inspiration to be a better athlete, you would add that inspiration using photos and posters, and quotes and stories from your role models.

Adding inspiration to the environment you want to have inspiring is usually done with art, music, and quotes. So, set the mood. If you want to be a better writer, put up photos of some of the all time greatest writers. If you want to be a better dancer, put up art depicting dance.

When the room are in inspires you, then you have successfully accomplished creating an inspiring environment.

Step four- Test it
Once you have created your inspiring environment, you get the privilege of enjoying it. So, go to, get in the room and see how inspiring it really is. You may find that some things need to be changed. If that is the case, change them. You will find what works best for you. If you are trying to lose weight, a pair of jeans that are 2 sizes smaller hung on your wall may be the inspiration you need. The skinny photo of you may not work. It might just make you feel overwhelmed or bad about yourself. So, test it out and see if it works for you, and change anything that is not working.

Step five- Enjoy!
