The power of positive thinking

Most people know the importance and the power of motivation-without motivation, it is difficult to achieve the goals you set for yourself to become a better you. Staying motivated when working on a project or towards a goal, however, is not always easy. However, when it comes to maintaining your motivation, positive thinking can be a powerful tool.
Why think positively?
Whether you realize it or not, your thoughts directly impact not only what you accomplish, but whether or not you believe you actually can. There have been numerous studies that have shown people who practiced positive thinking in a variety of forms, including meditation, affirmations, and so forth, were more successful in their endeavors than those who didn't.

How to think positively
If you pay attention to your thoughts for a day, you will probably notice that positive thinking for many people doesn't always come naturally. However, positive thinking can become second nature and is simply a matter of getting into the habit of being positive.
The following are some tips that will help you to think positively.
Mediate
In order to think positively, you need to clear your mind of all negative influences. A clear, peaceful mind will help set the stage for positive thoughts. Once stresses and worries are out of your mind, you can then begin to practice positive thinking.
Meditation doesn't need to be an hour of yoga, nor does it need to be lengthy. It might just be setting your alarm for 5 or 10 minutes earlier every morning so you can relax by stretching, listening to peaceful music, or performing deep breathing. You can also meditate before you go to bed, or in the middle of the day. This relaxed state will help you to think more positively.
Develop a mantra
A mantra is a word or phrase you can use to help you think positively. A successful mantra will be related to the thing or goal you are trying to obtain. For example, if you are trying to stay motivated and positive during a job hunt, your mantra could be, "I have many talents and abilities that would make me a great employee." If you are trying to lose weight, your mantra could be, "I am strong and in control of my body." Mantras like these can help you stay motivated and overcome setbacks while helping you to see them for what they are - temporary.
Use positive affirmations
Positive affirmations are one of the best ways to encourage positive thinking and redo negative thought processes. A positive affirmation is a statement used in a positive, present tense language. A positive affirmation would include something like, "I am closer to my goal every day," or can be as simple as "I can do this." Positive self affirmations should always include the words "I" or "me," should be in present tense, and should, naturally, promote positive thinking, like, "I can do this," or "This is within my reach." Positive affirmations, like mantras, are very helpful when you feel like you are losing your motivation.
When repeated often, especially when replacing negative thoughts, positive affirmations will soon become a habit.
Positive thinking is one of the best ways you can stay motivated, encouraged, and positive not only about the tasks or goals you have at hand, but about your life in general. These are just a few tips to encourage positive thinking.
