to stick to your diet
Most people have tried one diet or another at some point in their life, and inevitably, everyone has trouble sticking with their diets. So, how do you motivate yourself to stick to your diet? The following are some simply steps and precautions to take to help motivate yourself to stick with your diet of choice.
1. Pick a diet that has real and typical results. We have all seen the television commercials that feature the thin model looking person who claims to have lost 50 lbs in 5 weeks, and looks and feels better than ever before in their life. Well, we have also seen that on the bottom of the television screen, in small print, there is that little phrase "Results not typical." If you are doing a diet that works for some, but not all, it is hard to stay motivated when you do not see results. So, choose a diet that works for everyone. They are out there, most consist of eating lots of fresh foods, and limiting dairy, meat, and sugars. So, choose one that fits these parameters.

. Pick a diet with a lot of variety. Variety is the spice of life. It is hard to get motivated to stick to your diet when you have to eat the same meal for the 10th night in a row. So, choose a diet that gives you choice.
4. Write down your goals. Motivation comes from being reminded and from working toward goals. So, set some goals, and work towards them. Write them down and refer to them often.
5. Hang your pants, swim suit, etc. up where you will see it regularly. It can be very motivating to stick to a diet when you have a favorite pair of jeans, or that skimpy bikini, and you do not have the body for it. However, if you hide that away in the back of your closet, it can't act as motivation. Instead, post it loud and proud.
6. Take Before photos so you see what it is you are changing. Strip down to your skimpies and take a photo. This is embarrassing. It shows all of your pudge, rolls, and things you try to hide under your clothes, but it is also very motivating. No one wants to look bad naked, so take a photo and post it where you will see it regularly and remind yourself of why you are dieting.
7. Enlist some support. Staying motivated often takes the support of some friends or family. So, tell people your goals. Inform them of what you are supposed to eat. Then when you try to deviate from your diet, they can remind you.
8. Rewards! Ask any child, or parent, and you will know that rewards act as a great motivator. Weight loss, better health, and all the other effects of dieting are rewards it is true, but rewarding yourself for every 10 pounds lost, or every 5 days you stick with your diet, etc. is a great way to motivate yourself to stick with it.
9. Don't cheat! If you cheat even just occasionally it is very difficult to stay motivated to stick with your diet later. So, do not make exceptions. You will find that there are always tons of exceptions you can make. So, if you never start making them, you will stay better motivated to stick to your diet.
