Pregnancy when friend can't get pregnant

pregnant41922091.jpgTrying to put yourself in someone else's shoes is almost always the most effective way to figure out for yourself how it is that you should act in a situation that is uncomfortable. Just as in the case of being pregnant and having a friend who can't get pregnant, understanding the emotions that your friend is likely to be going through when they hear the news of your pregnancy can help to guide you as you try to find the right words to say in those awkward situations.

Baby talk or not?

Whether or not is the right thing to do is up to you. What is right for some is not for others. But what do the experts say to the question of baby talk? What do they say it does, and how does it stimulate, or halt development of speech in children?

The answer is divided. Some experts feel that if you speak to your child as if they were a baby it does not promote growth and maturity. There are many who say that baby talk hampers the child's ability to learn a full vocabulary and adjust to speaking as an adult, or mature being. They also say that it limits understanding of the real world, and pads the realities of life, which can sometimes come to a shock to children as they enter their peer filled world in Pre-School and Kindergarten.

Babies and music

Well, to answer this question let's take a look at what the experts say: Researchers at Appalachian State University believe that they've debunked what has been called the "Mozart Effect." So what is the "Mozart Effect" exactly? It is a temporary increase in intelligence experienced after listening to a piano sonata written by the famed composer.

And who came up with it? It was first reported in 1993 by scientists at the University of California at Irvine, and replicated by the same group in 1995. The study (which did not look at the effect of Mozart on babies) found that college students who listened to a Mozart sonata for a few minutes before taking a test that measured spatial relationship skills did better than students who took the test after listening to another musician or no music at all. The effect in the students was temporary (it lasted only 15 minutes) and has always been controversial.

Babies and earaches

Not all babies get earaches, but when they do it is a force to be reckoned with. Babies that get earaches are miserable, and hard to handle. So how can you identify that the problem is an earache, prevent it, or treat it if it does occur? No one wants to hear a whinning, fussy, sad baby, it breaks your heart, and it wears you down.

First thing is first, look at the symptoms. What is the baby doing, and how can you know it is an earache?
