Double dating with other couples

If you are married, or have just been together for a long time, you may find that your dating life leaves a little something to be desired. It can sometimes become routine, instead of fun conversation, it is "you get the popcorn, I'll get the tickets" and then you sit and watch a movie. A great way to make dating more fun is to double date with other couples.

The following are some fun double dating ideas:
Go bowling: Bowling on a double date is a lot of fun. Make it a competition or a tournament, bowl couple vs. couple, this way you average your scores, so you both have to pull some weight. Make it a little more fun by uping the stakes, losers buy dessert after, or the movie, or whatever. If you want to have some real fun, tell the other couple that you will bet them the price of the game that you can bowl between two and three hundred. After the game you can celebrate good trickery by pointing out that your score, even if it was only 90 is clearly between 2 and 300.

Games: Double dating does not always have to be expensive. Find a couple that enjoys playing games, and get together with some snacks and a board game or two. You can stay in, play a fun game, and have some lively conversation and laughs. You could play a more in depth game such as Settlers of Catan, or a faster game such as Blokus. This type of date can last several hours, or only an hour or two.
Dinner: Dinner is a great date, and a classic choice. However, when going on a double date with other couples, you do not necessarily have to go out to dinner. Making dinner for just you and someone else can feel like a chore, but making dinner to enjoy with friends is fun! You make the main dish and have the other couple bring dessert.
Country dancing: Even if you hate country music, country dancing can be a ton of fun. So, get out there, dress up with your boots, hats, and plaid shirt, and get your dance on. You will laugh at each other, get a little exercise, and probably a lot of fun!
Take a hike: getting outside and getting in some exercise are a great way to go on a date. Throw in another couple and you get more conversation, and added fun. You could pack a lunch, hike to a waterfall or to no where. Just get out there and enjoy some nature with friends.
Play racquetball: For inexpensive fun and a great double date, try going to your local recreation center and playing a few games of racquetball. You may have to call ahead to reserve the court. Afterwards go out for a Gatorade or an ice cream.
Watch a weekly television show: this may not sound like a date, but it can be a fun thing to do with another couple. Pick a show, then get together each week to watch it and talk about it. You could include snacks or even dinner before, during, or after.

Almost any activity that you can do with two is even more fun with four, so invite some friends along, and go out and do your favorite activity, whether that is seeing a movie, or going to the arcade, it really does not matter, make it a double date, throw in some couple vs. couple competition, and you are in for a fun night.
