Making friends online

communication23689951.jpgOne thing that some people find hard to do is to make new friends. Some people freeze at the thought of going out in public to socialize or are petrified at the thought of having to talk to total strangers. If meeting new people face to face is not something that you can envision yourself doing, thanks to technology there is a new way to make new friends. Something that is becoming quite popular is making friends online, which means you can get to know the people first and meet them later.

Here are some tips that you will need to follow to make friends online.

Tip one:
You are going to need to join at least one social networking website. Some of the more popular social networking websites are Facebook and MySpace. With social networking, websites becoming a member is free; all you have to do is complete the registration process.

Tip two:
If social networking doesn't sound like something that you would be interested in or you want to expand your reach you can also join various forums. The great thing about forums is that you will be able to join forums based on your interests, which means the people in the forum will already have things in common with you. To find different forums you will want to use a search engine to search your larger interests. Once you have joined a forum you will need to become a regular poster.

Tip three:

To become a serious poster on the forum websites you will need to look at the topics that are getting the most attention. Read the topics to see what ones you are interested in, if you are interested in what is being talked about post something about the topic to get started. You can direct your post at somebody in particular or you can simply put it out there for anybody to respond to. The key to this is talking to other people who are interested in the same topics as you. By showing interest in the topics, you can find friends online that you can email or chat with in other means.

Tip four:
You can also find chatrooms that are available online for people to use. Chatrooms are not as popular as social networking websites or forums, but they are still around. You can find chatrooms based on common interest or even based on age.

Tip five:
You can also start your own group online so that others who share your interest can join it. Starting your own group will allow you to connect with the exact kind of people that you want to connect with. The reason for this is the way you will be advertising your group, people with the same interest will be sure to join. Others who are not interested won't join because they will never search for your type of group. It is so much easier to make friends with people who share an interest with you than just some random person you meet on the streets.

Tip six:
When you are participating in chatrooms and forums you want to make sure that you take the time to type out all of your words, you want to be literate. The reason for this is that in most cases literate people are well liked and more respected in the forums and chatrooms than people who do not type everything out. The reason for that are people who type words or phrases such as "Ur wrds" are considered annoying and immature.

Tip seven:
Have a creative user name for chatrooms and forums to draw people's attention. Something else you want to avoid is random numbers at the end of your user name, using numbers that mean something is fine; you just want to avoid the random ones.
