Planning a reunion with old friends

car67938962.jpgPlanning a reunion with old high school friends can be a fun experience. Depending upon how big you want your reunion to be, you can easily make reservations for a few people at a local restaurant or you may need to rent an entire space. Large high school reunions require a lot of planning and time. If you don't want to plan a large reunion, you can make a small effort to make a big impact upon your old high school friends. Here are some tips to help you plan a reunion:

Tip # 1 - Schedule
One of the easiest ways to plan a high school reunion is to set a date well in advance. Give people enough time to put it on their calendars so they can plan to come to the reunion. Always plan well in advance so you have plenty of time at your disposal in case you need to change things. There are always some important tasks you will need to worry about and it helps to have a schedule ahead of time so you don't have to stress.

If you are renting a place, make sure to book early. Reception centers often sell out fast and many of them are booked months or years in advance so it is important to get on top of it as early as possible.

Tip # 2 - Help
Planning a reunion should not be a one-man band. Call up some of your high school friends that you keep in touch with and ask them to pitch in. If you have a small group, you probably won't need to do much. If you are planning on a large group of friends, ask them to help out with the budget so you aren't fronting the cost on your own. The more people you have, the more planning it will take and the more help you will need.

Tip # 3 - Find your friends
Planning a reunion may be the fun part, finding people to come to it will be the stressful part! Locating all your old high school friends can be hard if you don't know where to look. Use the internet to your advantage when it comes to finding all your friends. Use social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook to find your old friends. Most of them will probably be on the site and you can send out group invitations over the internet, this can save you a ton of money on printing costs and postage amounts. If you don't have time to sit around and browse the internet all day in search of your old friends, join a site like Classmates.com. They will do all the searching for you! The downside is that you will need to pay a monthly fee to be a member. It's a great way to get your list together though and it can really save you a ton of time.

Tip # 4 - Keep it simple
Once you have the reunion planned and you have your mailing list, keep the event simple. You don't need to hire a band or an entertainer to come; people will entertain themselves by spending time catching up with one another. Keep the dress code simple so people don't feel pressure to go out and purchase an expensive suit or dress. Pick a location that is well known and pick a good time, like 6:00. This will help to eliminate confusion and it can help some people get home a little early if they have children. Reunions are a great way to connect with old friends no matter how big or small they are.
